  3. Singapore will send F-15SE plus C-130.
NZ will probably send their Hawks.
    Indonesia sending their brand-new Su27 and Su-30.
Thailand will bring F-16 Block 30.
    US will send F/A-18 E/F.

    I believe that's all.

All flights of the exercises will be done AT NIGHT, hence, it's called PITCH BLACK.

  4. Forgot to mention that Australia will be sending Super Hornets and the Wedgetails AEW.

I wonder if the Indonesians will perform the Cobra?

  5. Thailand normally sends her F-16's as does Singapore and Malaysia often sends either F/A-18C's or MiG-29's. Singapore are also sending their new G550 Compact AEW aircraft for the first time this year.

ADF will contribute airlift (C-130's and C-17's) refuelling assets, ground defence assets, C&C and ground radar capability as well as logistical and base support for the exercise. It's tactical units will include Hornets, Super Hornets, Hawk Mk 127's, Wedegetail, KC-30A, C-130J, C-17A and helo support (Blackhawks).

It's a regional air defence exercise primarily. The USA does not normally contribute, but the UK and the French Air Force have contributed in the past.

It is not called Pitch Black because it's conducted at night, as the above photos show.

It is an exercise name, nothing more. It is no more held at night (though there are night missions) than RED Flag is held at dusk and dawn...

I believe the ADF attempted to get Thailand to bring out their new Gripens, but they aren't quite ready yet. Seeing Hornets, new Super Hornets, new F-15's, F-16's, new SU-27/30's and new Gripens mixing it up, would have been quite the spectacle...

    Regards,
