  1. No way in hell will Bill Sweetman ever admit he's wrong. He'll end up like Sprey, Wheeler, and Ricionni- old and bitter. Go to Ares and you can see him positively gushing about the Gripen NG and its AESA radar. (And nevermind that the F-15, F-16, Super Hornet, and F-22 have been in service with AESAs for years.)

    1. Or the APG-81 was operated (aboard BAC1-11) successfully at Northern Edge 2009/2011 in a heavily (read non-realistic) jammed environment.

    2. hey Spudman i'll leave you and sferrin and SMSGT Mac to duel it out with the likes of Sweetman, Goon, Kopp and ELP on the technical aspects of the plane. i'm happy enough to knkow that it works and will work well....and like SMSGT said. the navy is going to have a problem when Hornet drivers get a chance to fly the thing and wonder why they aren't getting them.

    3. Happy enough...or because you are no longer allowed to post on Ares.

  2. Great article. Although there's nothing really very different than what the JSF Program has been publically stating all along, I think it will still go over the heads of those who still think of 'fighters' as individual aircraft instead of systems within a larger system will still poke fingers and utter adjectives (heavy! more expensive! too complex!).
Expect the 'reformer' jungle telegraph to start pounding "yes, but" arguments over this one. This article is in a too prominent publication for them to ignore very long.
Thanks for pointing this one out!
