About the General Milley thing...

Hey gents..

I'm not gonna dig into the General Milley thing till I hear more.  Remember this!  THEY'RE TRYING TO SELL BOOKS!!!!

To my mind's eye that means they're gonna push sensational headlines to get sales and only after you read the book will things be put in the proper context.

I'm not saying the dude is golden.

I AM SAYING that he walked a fine line and he had BOTH PARTIES trying to pull the US military into a political fight.

I've been quick to bang on Generals.  It's my favorite sport.  HOWEVER this isn't what should be grabbing headlines in the Military Twitter Universe.

This is a distraction.

What we should be banging on is the planning for the withdrawal from Afghanistan.  Who participated, what did the intel say, why they went so light, why they allowed a haphazard evacuation to take place, why the reliance on the Taliban for security etc...

This Milley thing is alot of flash with VERY LITTLE blast.

Brazil's paramilitary gangs...I believe we're headed toward something similar here via GreymanBrief

Keep an eye on the situation in Brazil folks.

The elite BOPE exists for a reason.

Brazil has been on the cutting edge of urban combat due to the nature of its society, social issues and drugs.

No go areas for "normal" police has long been a thing.  BOPE was created to go where the police couldn't and should be considered almost Special Ops in training (with MUCH MUCH MUCH more trigger time than any SWAT team in the US...they bang against narco-gangs on a daily basis and the narcos bang back).

But I went off on a tangent.

My fear is that we'll see this heading here soon.  More and more groups are getting/attempting to get military style training.

More and more city govts are putting in place policies that either tie the hands of police, give criminals pathetically lax sentences or both.

Its only a matter of time till the Los Angeles shootout become the norm.

I believe major urban areas in the US are gonna start looking more like the ones in Brazil rather than what we see in Japan or S. Korea.

Oh and if you get a chance follow GreymanBrief...It might not be for everyone but I enjoy the stuff he puts up.

Chinese warships operating off the coast of Alaska...this was inevitable and there is more to come...

This was inevitable and I'm afraid the Coast Guard isn't prepared for it.

Consider this.

The US Navy (and now our allies) are conducting almost constant freedom of navigation exercises off the coast of China.

From their chair this must seem provocative.  The funny thing?  I totally get their feelings.  I've warned before that if the Chinese were running freedom of navigation ops in the Gulf of Mexico I'd be losing my shit.

We'll I can expect to do just that in the near future.

If you slap a man you must be prepared to get slapped back.  A tit for tat if you will.  The law be damned if someone punches you its only natural (and should be expected) that you'll get punched back.

Well we "punched" China so they'll be in the Gulf soon.  It's only natural.
