"Congress should end the war in Ukraine by withdrawing from NATO"

A few quick thoughts...

*  If our State Dept was more proactive I believe this war could have been avoided.  Unfortunately our foreign policy has devolved into one of military involvement.  That is a huge mistake but one that can be easily seen if one was to open their eyes.  What do you always hear from our State Dept?  Some new defense treaty.  Trade deals, economic (not military or cultural but REAL assistance to aid foreign nations develop their home industry is non-existent) assistance is a thing of the past.

*  NATO is an organization that lost its reason for being once the Soviet Union collapsed.  It serves no purpose except to give bureaucrats a reason to exist.  Even if you believe this war is necessary then a temporary joint headquarters could be formed. A standing organization is just a money sponge.

* Speaking of money sponges, Ukraine is IT!!!!  Zelensky is out of control, demands when he should ask and feels a type of entitlement that is to be frank...INFURIATING!

*  The sanctions along with the lingering economic recovery from covid is a problem.  2022 was bad.  2023 is set to be worse...economically for the entire Western world.  Our leadership seriously fucked this whole thing up.

*  This fight exposed something that should send chills up your spine.  It exposed a cabal of national security/foreign policy wonks that have been wanting a direct confrontation with Russia since the Reagan years.

Something is very broken in the US...

People shitting and pissing in the streets (of big cities), using drugs in public to include public transportation and sometimes outside schools, teachers that are more interested in teaching kids about their sexuality than the lesson of the day to get children ready for being good citizens and now this? Something broke in the US and I don't see many in power trying to fix it. On the contrary I see them almost encouraging it. Ya know what that means right? No help is coming, its up to us!

Russian missile shot down by Ukrainians

We're living in the land of mirrors.

This is a claim so outlandish that no one believes it.  But what about other claims?  Oh and I'm speaking of Ukrainian claims?

What has me spinning is that so many jumped on the idea that Russia fired missiles into Poland.

The rub?

You're being deceived by both sides in this fight WHICH IS NOT our business.

We are weakening our own defense for the sake of another country. We are spending cash we don't have to benefit the citizens of another country when we have citizens AT HOME that could make use of it.

That's my point gents.

Zelenskyy calls for 'strong reaction' from the UN after Russian bombs left millions of Ukrainians without heat and water in below-freezing temperatures: 'We expect the reaction of friends — not just observers'

 via BI

Zelenskyy delivered an impassioned speech via video link to the UN Security Council late Wednesday accusing Russia of "crimes against humanity" and suggesting the recent missile attacks were akin to "weapons of mass destruction."

"We expect a strong reaction from the world to today's Russian terror. We expect the reaction of partners. We expect the reaction of friends — not just observers," Zelenskyy said. "We expect the reaction of all those who really recognize the UN Charter."

The Ukrainian president also called on the council to adopt a resolution condemning any displays of energy terror — an unlikely development, given Russia's veto vote on the council.

Here

If you'll notice you don't hear any condemnation from the US about the attacks on Ukraine's energy sector.

First its fair game according to the law of war and second, its straight out of our own playbook.

Why it took the Russians this long is beyond me but this is hurting Zelensky and might give us the off ramp to end this thing.

Limited Scale Raid (Maritime Raid Force - 31st MEU)

4th Assault Amphibian Battalion’s (AA Bn) to transition two companies into Littoral Craft Companies

via Navy Technology
In the next phase, the US Marine Corps (USMC ) will award contract to the chosen vendors and then perform concept and limited engineering experimentation over the next 18 to 24 months.

The selected small craft will also provide live-force experimentation and analysis opportunity in the field of littoral water operations, expeditionary advanced base operations, reconnaissance and counter reconnaissance missions and other management operations.

The latest rapid acquisition effort will coincide with the approval for MFR to retain and restructure 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion’s (AA Bn) two companies into Littoral Craft Companies to assume small watercraft mission.

Here

I wonder if this is about the need to bid out every project or if they're just looking for something new.

If they want capability and they want it fast (which I would think would be the case considering what the Fed is predicting for next year) then look no further than the CB90.

Its been used by US Marines, Royal Marines, Coastal Rangers and more.  Its a solid piece of kit and ready now.

Why delay?

UK experts, including Sir Patrick Vallance, helped shut down Covid lab leak theory weeks after being told it might be true.

With regard to the Ukraine/Russia/NATO war? We're living in the land of mirrors...

Keep an eye on Iran. 50 police killed in protests there...

Iran appears to be approaching a tipping point.

The protests have reached a point where their security forces are taking this big a hit (and we can probably expect the real number to be bigger)?

Yeah this is looking like the govt could fall.

I wonder how involved the US and Israel are involved (if they are) in this thing.

Something to keep an eye on?  The Revolutionary Guard.  If they get turned loose then expect things to get down right brutal.

Iran, China, Ukraine, Russia, Syria, N. Africa, the Middle East, crime in the US?

The whole world is convulsing.
