Everyone is hitting me with this news but I DO NOT know what to make of it. Are the Russians simply done and will let Assad fall? Is the regime strong enough to finish the job solo? Is it a lessons learned thing and Putin is trying to avoid a repeat of their experience (and ours) in the Middle East where you get dragged into endless war?
Whatever the reason this is simply brilliant.
I've talked about the effects of continuous war in the ME on the countries involved. What I haven't talked about are the knock effects of the countries doing the warfighting. How many programs could have been funded...both defense and civilian if we hadn't been at war for the past 10 plus years? How much modernization has been delayed because of the continuous combat?
Yeah. Putin got us again.
