Turkey says that the Kurdish led and US backed " Border Security Force (BSF)" will lead to an annexed Syria...

The creation of the so-called Border Security Force (BSF) on the Syrian territory controlled by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) may lead to separation of several regions from the territory of the Syrian state, a member of the opposition’s delegation to the Astana talks told Sputnik.

“Currently, the United States may not be aiming to create a new map of Syria, this step [the establishment of a border security force in Syria], however, could encourage such efforts, pursued by separatist forces. So, a new map of Syria may become a reality in future,” Fateh Hassoun said on Monday.

On Saturday, the Defense Post news website published an article, in which the spokesman of the US-led coalition fighting against the Daesh terrorist group, said that the coalition was engaged in a training of a 30,000-strong force on the territory within Syria currently controlled by the SDF to maintain security in the area along the Syrian border.

According to the opposition delegate, the Unites States could have created the core of the security force from the Free Syrian Army troops instead of the SDF militias.
Story here.

This is one time when we need Trump to simply blurt out (or Tweet) what the game is here.

We defeated ISIS so I was under the impression that at worst we would see everyone pivot to fighting in Yemen and Syria, Iraq and even the Kurds would be able to start piecing themselves back together.

God knows they've seen enough fighting over the past few years.

But now we have this?

ISIS wasn't the objective.

Regime change in Syria was.

So now that they couldn't topple Assad they're seeking to carve off a few pieces of his country as a plan B.  This is bad JuJu.  I can expect the Turks to charge forward and establish a big ass buffer zone in Northern Syria.  The Russians and Syrians will counter that its unnecessary and counteroffer strikes against the Kurds.  Then US diplomats will fold as will the Pentagon and the Kurds will hate us forever when both those powers start putting them under sustained air and artillery strikes.

The Kurds better think this thru.  They're about to make a terrible mistake.  With Assad they could probably get an autonomous region.  Same with Iraq. If they make this move they might be destroyed entirely.

Sidenote;  I wonder if all this could have been avoided if Assad had simply said yes when a proposal for a pipeline was presented to him?
