The Chinese automotive market. Man! They're doing stuff with electric vehicles that would bankrupt US automakers in a year! We don't have to like it. We do have to accept that in some tech we're behind. We don't have to stay behind but we have to at least acknowledge it. The thing that kills me is that all the Western nations are engaging in protectionism to shield their auto industry against this rising giant. That's never the solution. Words need to match deeds. Remove the barriers and opt for free and fair competition. Use tariffs if they have govt funding but blocking the selling of foreign vehicles? Not good. Same for every other consumer product. Additionally, cause its really hurting our defense industry, we've got to face facts when it comes to automation. Workers will never outwork machinery. Our munition plants? We should fully automate them. Aviation industry? Same. Shipbuilding? FUCK YEAH! We've got to face the future and if we're really facing existential threats then we're hurting ourselves by protecting workers against the future. Change my mind.
