Armor Porn. M1A2 Abrams emerges from the smoke...
Didn't mention this in a prior blog post but the Army seems to be having an uneven upgrade program with regard to the Abrams.
We see this one sporting that Kongsberg system but no Trophy APS, and we saw an earlier pic of one sporting the Trophy APS but no CROWS.
I hope its just a matter of scheduling in the depot but if it's a matter of finances and they're trying to prioritize certain units then it becomes a bit more concerning.
The problem for me is that I don't know what the answer is. Do you simply upgrade what you can when you can or is an Army wide upgrade solution the best way to go?
I really have no idea. If you have an answer, a real answer and not something you're pulling out of your ass, then I'd love to hear it.
Armor Porn. BTR-82A @ Baltics "Marine Trooper" Competition...

The most interesting part of this vid (cause I sure can't speak Russian and have no idea what the dude is saying) is that it appears they've done something to improve the "float" characteristics of the BTR-82A.
Is it just me or does it seem to ride a bit higher than it used to in the water?
Flotation armor? Light load? I'm not sure but something is going on and this rig seems to be a bit more nimble in the water than in the past.
German KSK put on a hostage rescue demonstration (pics)...
Even high speed units like the KSK seem to be locked in the "we fight in the desert mindset".
Urban environment and units like this that have lavish funding are still sporting desert multicam and tan vehicles/equipment?
I guess it's to be expected.
The US military didn't shake off the "jungle fight" for two generations till they made a full pivot to the Rapid Deployment Force and fighting in the Middle East.
If we do the same this time around I think we'll be late to the Pacific fight...at least in mindset...and mindset is at least half the battle.
