Get on your horse and kick via the Art Of Manliness

via AOM (click here to go to his site...well worth your time)
There could hardly be a more horrifying way to die: when young Sean O’Brien waded into the Nueces River on horseback, he disrupted a nest of water moccasins, and found himself surrounded by a swarm of big, brown, worm-like snakes.

By the time his companions were able to pull Sean from the water, his body was covered in numerous fang marks, and he soon expired along the banks of the river.

In this episode from the novel Lonesome Dove, a grave is shortly dug, a hasty burial service is held, and the men prepare to keep their cattle drive moving. But Sean’s fellow cowboys, especially his brother Allen, find it difficult to grapple with this sudden and unexpected death.

Weak with shock, Allen is the last to mount his horse, and as the men ride off, he keeps looking back at his brother’s grave. “It seems very quick just to ride off and leave the boy,” he says with dismay. “He was the babe of our family.”

“If we was in town we’d have a fine funeral,” the cowboy sage Augustus McCrae replies. “But we ain’t in town. There’s nothing you can do but kick your horse.”

Gus may seem cold, but he’s simply a realist.

Whether we’re faced with literal death or more everyday setbacks and losses, we ought to mourn/commemorate/figure out where we may have messed up.

But there’s a point where nothing else can be done; no amount of paralyzing grief, rear-view regret, or circular rumination is going to bring back the deceased, enable you to redo the blown job interview, give you another shot with your ex. You gotta saddle up and ride on, pardner.

Life can only be lived forwards.

Feet in the stirrups. Hands on the reins. Eyes towards the horizon.

Jesus...Tom Brady just unretired.

Dude just don't know when to say when.

Iskander-M missile strike on Ukrainian Command Post & a little rant about comments

Note. We are all living in the land of mirrors. Some are upset because I want to get the Russian view of this fight. My response? Get over it and wrap your brains around the fact that we are being bombarded with propaganda from ALL sides!

Riddle me this. If the Russians weren't making gains then why are we seeing increased sanctions over what has already been done? Why has Zelensky increased his appeals to not only the President and Congress but directly to the American people? The answer is simple. We're only getting the version of the war that is being pushed by the Western media. That is and will never be the whole story.

Posting opposing viewpoints is the first step toward the truth. It is ugly. It is at times vicious. It is always upsetting, especially when it conflicts with your worldview, but it is necessary to understand it.

So I end this little rant by saying this. It is your duty to be informed. Embrace it. Savior it. Remember that there is an ongoing battle for YOUR mind!

This guy was truly a man of faith...much respect

This is courage. This guy was truly a man of faith.

Another round of Covid is hitting China as we speak...the supply chain will NOT recover this year...

History doesn't repeat but it does rhyme.

Few people take a look at the ECONOMIC reasons for WW2.  Its simpler and more fanciful to look at it as a "defense of freedom". The current era is mirroring the pre-WW2 era.  Additionally you don't have to look hard to see the seeds of the next major conflict being planted.

Despite the best efforts of many we're seeing a realignment in our economic system based on COVID, not the war in Ukraine.

Realignments are never complete until there is conflict.

New prediction.  We will see a major war in the 2020s (and no, Ukraine is not a major war).

Ukrainian Foreign Fighters are getting pummeled...Report from a Brazilian that went to the war zone...

There are fights where you can help (as light infantry) and then there is this mess. I predicted they would go heavy/hard and the Russians did. You can't do a thing against artillery/missiles.

I tried to pick up what unit he was with in Brazil from his patch but couldn't make it out.

Anyone know?  Everyone is looking toward the military side of the house but they have a pretty impressive, damn near special ops level police unit that I bet is sending a few bubbas over.

Question. During an invasion, what do you do with people in prison? How about child molesters that are being monitored by authorities? Drug dealers, etc...?

 It just hit me.

What did Ukraine do with their people that were in prison?  How about child molesters that had served their time and were released but being monitored by authorities?  Drug dealers, etc...?

I ask because I saw a story on Sky News (we get their broadcast) and they told about a couple in the UK that is planning on providing a room in their house to Ukrainian refugees.

This will spread.  People today like to virtue signal and they will jump upside down to show what "good" people they are.

I have yet to hear anyone talk about the security aspect of this many people being allowed into the West without checking their backgrounds.

Does anyone have any REAL info on this?

Open Comment Post. 13 Mar 2022

The fight in the UK over increased defense spending is fascinating. Their Treasury is holding firm, but "emotional" politicians are pushing hard..

Ya know what kills me?  We're seeing it all again.  Never let a crisis go to waste.  First covid.  Now this.

We keep bouncing from so called crisis to crisis and the only people that benefit are from certain political/economic/social (as in cocktail parties) classes.

The comments are fascinating so follow the link and read them for yourself (mostly pro, but a few hardcore get our house fixed mixed in).

KF-21 Boramae ready for its first test flight scheduled for later this year [3840 x 2560] via Reddit user u/rokarmedforces (WarPlane Mod)

I am really excited to see what the S. Koreans do with this! They're turning into a powerhouse...a credible powerhouse that could actually deploy forces to foreign lands and win the fight...or defeat all but the most capable if they try and seize their territory.

Reunification could make Korea a global player like we haven't seen yet.

Could you imagine a unified Korea (after the pains of integration) that is technologically capable, advanced as any on the planet with their martial spirit?

I'll be long gone and forgotten but it would be fascinating to see.
