How long before the use of small uavs becomes an indication that enemy forces are nearby? These things are range limited so if the uav sees you, you see the uav then you know contact is imminent.

This one is weird.

Nancy Pelosi is wanting to take a trip to Taiwan.  I figured its part of her going away tour cause the Republicans are poised to take over the House and historically the leadership retires after a loss.

But the Chinese stance?

Seems over the top.

Why make this into such an issue?  If she doesn't go then that means the Biden administration (including the military) is weak as water (well they already are because they're telling her not to go) but consequences of her NOT taking it have become HUGE because of the stance China has taken.

Its almost like they want to go NOW.

Can you imagine?  If the Chinese are serious and use this as a provocation that means they attack Taiwan (if she's on the island lol!!!) then that would be the thing that turns the world upside down.

What consequences short of war could they engage in.  Why would they allow this to turn into such an issue that the US is backed into a corner.

It's puzzling.  It's an almost emotional, irrational position.  I really thought the Chinese were smarting than this kind of saber rattling.

Wow. They still use 8in guns. Can't think of too many forces that still have them in inventory. Scarcity along with a viable threat makes a nation extremely thrifty when it comes to defense. I remember when the Marine Corps could claim to be a very thrifty yet EXTREMELY effective/affordable force for America. Haven't seen that claim in a long time.

Russia.  Iran.  TURKEY! All with China sitting on the bleachers waiting to be called in for the big play.

A real State Dept would be looking to drive wedges between these nations.  A real strategist would be looking to disrupt this union before it turns into a monster.
