Assault Breacher Vehicles (ABV) enter the fray to jump start Ukraine's offensive. They don't appear to be the answer.

Thanks to S300V4 for the pics!

*Why are the plows set to scrap that deep?  Might do better getting Israeli D9s if they're gonna move earth instead of clear a path.  Any Combat Engineers in the audience to explain this?

The Pentagon Is Freaking Out About a Potential War With China (Because America might lose.)

Thanks to J Villan for the link!

Note.  I smell shenanigans in this article.  Why?  Because several Senators are pushing hard (as well as the Pentagon) for a defense budget plus up even though they cut domestic programs.  Additionally they have emptied our stockpile of munitions and it will take YEARS to rebuild them.  So what do you do when you've slammed your own citizens, basically propped up a foreign govt and want to get into a fight with the Chinese?  You make them out to be a boogey-man (yes I am aware that I've said in the past that we should have killed them in the crib...but that was then, this is now...even 4 years ago we would have won more easily not so much now) that has to be stomped at all costs.  You even throw in that it'll change our way of life.  FULL FEAR TACTICS!  I tell people when we get into a dust up that the reason why they lost (I am talking shit) is because I was fighting for right.  That's with crack heads and street trash.  But who is fighting for right when China sees this as reunifying a breakaway province?  If Texas went its own way would we fight for it?  Not saying they're right but YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND YOUR ENEMY'S MOTIVATION!

war began in the early morning hours with a massive bombardment — China’s version of “shock and awe.” Chinese planes and rockets swiftly destroyed most of Taiwan’s navy and air force as the People’s Liberation army and navy mounted a massive amphibious assault across the 100-mile Taiwan Strait. Having taken seriously President Joe Biden’s pledge to defend the island, Beijing also struck pre-emptively at U.S. and allied air bases and ships in the Indo-Pacific. The U.S. managed to even the odds for a time by deploying more sophisticated submarines as well as B-21 and B-2 stealth bombers to get inside China’s air defense zones, but Washington ran out of key munitions in a matter of days and saw its network access severed. The United States and its main ally, Japan, lost thousands of servicemembers, dozens of ships, and hundreds of aircraft. Taiwan’s economy was devastated. And as a protracted siege ensued, the U.S. was much slower to rebuild, taking years to replace ships as it reckoned with how shriveled its industrial base had become compared to China’s.

The Chinese “just ran rings around us,” said former Joint Chiefs Vice Chair Gen. John Hyten in one after-action report. “They knew exactly what we were going to do before we did it.”

Here

FD2030 or not.  US Marines will be the side show to surface action groups, air expeditionary wings and carrier air wings along with subs for this fight.

Freedom of the Press 2023

Am I the only one that has noticed that the govt has a few pet journalist that it leaks information to? Freedom of the press? It's really become a joke in the West. The reality is that the mainstream press is simply an arm of the govt that tailors the news to what it wants the public to know/rage/fear about. A true free press would be conducting relentless investigations of Congress, the White House and every govt agency.  The idea of a free press has become a joke.  Even worse is the idea that journalist feel like they should be respected.

Thanks to Duke 7 for the link!

Perhaps I was to quick to call the demise of attack helicopters in favor of uavs. This is an impressive display.

Bonus.  Footage of a drone boat attack that was thwarted.

SEALs Conduct Nighttime Non-Combatant Evacuation Operation Training

Note. Its appearing more and more like SOCOM is about to take over the Non-Combatant Evacuation Operation . They are great but have limited capacity. In the last operation supposedly 16K Americans were left behind. It was an African country so it was dismissed. Don't know if that would fly in any other region (don't get mad...that's my opinion and I have a right to it so suck it up). The mission would have been a failure if they sought to evacuate ALL Americans not just embassy staff. Are we evolving to the point where if you're an American and you're caught up overseas you're on your own?

SEALs Conduct Nighttime Non-Combatant Evacuation Operation Training

"These exercises provide an opportunity for our operators and support personnel to hone their skills, coordinate with other units, and enhance their ability to conduct complex operations," said Commodore Bill Gallagher, commander of Naval Special Warfare Group 2.

A U.S. Marine with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s (MEU) Maritime Special Purpose Force, clears a room while conducting a simulated raid during Composite Training Unit Exercise (C2X), the last exercise in the pre-deployment training program for the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group and 26th MEU.

A raid is a mission requiring a small force to swiftly penetrate hostile territory to secure information, confuse the enemy, or to destroy their installations, and ends with a planned withdrawal upon completion of the mission.

Green Berets assigned to 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) participate in the Mint 400 in Primm, Nevada, March 10, 2023

Note. I find it interesting the Special Forces can participate in stuff like this. They're not gonna beat the professionals in this sport but they will make contact with the guys that know the latest and greatest when it comes to off-roading. Trust and believe when you're dealing with pros they don't mind sharing tips if you're humble and not trying to "show off" or act superior. I believe this applies across the board when it comes to the fields that Marines, SOCOM and Army bubbas are interested in. Off-roading, camping, shooting etc...

The Marine Corps needs to get out and about. Pick a few Marines that have their heads on straight and can come back and share what they found out. Do an experiment. Go on a road trip. See what the others services are doing. Check out the different industries. See what our allies are doing (still don't understand why we don't have the Aussies at every Marine installation teaching UAV flying...have you seen the stuff they do!). It can't hurt!
