Was the Oregon standoff really about arrests being made for the Bundy Ranch incident?

I've been trying to wrap my ahead around the Oregon standoff.  None of it made sense.  The people that they went to protect didn't want them there, it seems that the local community was mixed in opinion about them and many "names" in the militia movement wanted nothing to do with it.  So why go?

While doing a sweep of the internet I ran across the above vid.  Story here...
His mother says Barbeau is a veteran who served with the Marines and the National Guard. His friends say he was with Nevada Rancher Cliven Bundy last year, during an armed standoff with authorities when the feds tried to enforce grazing fees on government owned property.
"What Schuyler realizes is my government is going to violate constitutional rights and they are going to shoot. I better be prepared," said Barbeau supporter Jason Patrick.
The FBI eventually arrested Barbeau for illegally possessing an assault rifle, that because of its short barrel required a federal firearms registration. But authorities believe he poses a much greater danger.
Today, the assistant U.S. attorney told the judge that Barbeau was trying to buy a .50 caliber rifle that would be quote "advantageous" in a shootout with law enforcement. And that he was seen in photos posing next to explosives that federal agents have yet to locate.
This happened late December.  So the militia movement got wind that the FBI was starting to make arrests of people that went to the Bundy Ranch so they attempted to preempt them by forcing a "meeting engagement" in Oregon.

The only problem is that no one came.

My theory also explains why Cliven Bundy would make announcements on FaceBook and then head to Oregon.  He knew that his goose was cooked so instead of cowering in his home waiting to get picked up, he decided that it was better to be seen going to assist the last holdouts.

That's my thinking anyway.

More info here, here, here and here.

Sidenote:  I wondered why the FBI hadn't moved on individuals in the Bundy Ranch incident, well I wonder no more.  They've obviously placed arrest warrants on individuals nationwide and are simply rolling up people quietly.  The militia movement as its currently formed will not survive.  Darwin won and only those that kept their heads down AND haven't said stupid stuff on YouTube will survive (that's really the amazing part...these people are saying CRAZY shit on YouTube and making it available to the world).

Lt. Gen. Chris Bogdan is obviously smoking crack!

via AOL Breaking Defense.
ARLINGTON, VA: Three years ago, Lockheed Martin made the bold boast that F-35s would cost less than $85 million a copy by 2019, less than any existing fourth-generation fighter.
Skeptics howled. Boeing scoffed (eager to sell their ostensibly cheaper F-18 and keep its production line open). Most of us were impressed at then-Lockheed Martin program manager Lorraine Martin’s audacity.
Now, Program Executive Officer Lt. Gen. Chris Bogdan says the most common model of the plane, the F-35A, will hit $80 million to $85 million by 2019 and he expects the price will go lower, especially when it hits multi-year procurement in a few years. That price is in then-year dollars, and it includes an engine.
Wow.  Ya know when you have a Pentagon in total disarray?  When you have a program office that is at odds with its senior leadership!  Remember when the Chairman of the JCS stated that the number of F-35's to be bought was under review? If not then check this out....
“Given the evolving defense strategy and the latest Defense Planning Guidance, we are presently taking the newest strategic foundation and analyzing whether 2,443 aircraft is the correct number. Until the analysis is complete, we need to pursue the current scheduled quantity buy to preclude creating an overall near-term tactical fighter shortfall.”
Remember how the F-35 program office rushed to call him a liar? Again, check out the below...
This may be one of those stories that turns on phrasing, but the Pentagon’s new spokesman, Peter Cook, said during yesterday’s briefing — his first — that the military is not reviewing how many F-35s it plans to buy.
“Obviously, the budget situation here in Washington will have a big impact on that, but there is nothing at this point to indicate any formal review of this number,” Cook said. “But there will be the standard budget review of all programs going forward to FY 17.”
He claimed the Pentagon is still committed to buying all 2,443 F-35s. That stands in stark contrast to the story we broke about the incoming chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Marine Gen. Joseph Dunford, telling the Senate Armed Services Committee this in responses to the committee’s written questions:
Turns out Dunford might be a wayward Marine but at least he told the truth (or remains quiet...noticed that he wasn't on stage with the SecDef for the women in combat announcement).  Back to the issue at hand....Just a day or so ago we had the Defense UnderSec state that with 45 F-35's being cut from the program, that he didn't know if they would ever bend the cost curve...
U.S. Defense Under Secretary Mike McCord spoke to reporters on Tuesday, noting the Air Force is absorbing the biggest cuts of the three military branches procuring the aircraft."We are trying to get it back up to where we want it to be across the FYDP," McCord said. "But it's just a lot of money too, and it's unclear that we will be able to get this program back to the ramps that we had hoped for previously."
Now we have Bogdan making this statement?  Its one of two things.  Either Bogdan is smoking some high grade, straight from the cocaine fields crack, or we have a program office that is totally out of control.

Quite honestly it would be better if Bogdan is smoking crack.  A program office out of control means that they've lost all objectivity and are now working for the contractor instead of the Pentagon.

From my seat.  That's exactly what's happening....someone needs to grab this guy by the lapels and give him a bit of wall to wall counseling.  He's lost perspective and has turned into a salesman/cheerleader instead of  USAF Flag Officer.

Batman v Superman - Dawn of Justice - Final Trailer

The best part of this trailer?  The very end when Bats blocks Supes punch.  I didn't think it possible but it looks like Affleck will make a nice "old" Batman.  Still don't like the move to power armor.  Batman's appeal is that he's just a well trained guy that out thinks superpowered villains and sometimes friends in his universe.  The armor takes away from that...and his utility belt.

Bundy booking sheet...and what will militia 2.0 look like?

Citizens for Constitutional Freedom Support Group
BEAKING NEWS ALERT!
CLIVEN BUNDY HAS BEEN ARRESTED BY THE FBI
Cliven was on his way to Burns when he was arrested by the Portland FBI. As soon as he landed at the airport in Portland, SWAT and FBI took him into custody. Apparently, he faces federal charges related to his standoff with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management in 2014. The charges include a conspiracy charge to interfere with a federal officer -- the same charge lodged against two of his sons, Ammon and Ryan, for their role in the Jan. 2 takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Burns. He also faces weapons charges.

This is interesting.

I thought that they would make a move to arrest Bundy after this whole thing was over, but I guess his going to the site made this a no brainer. The real question is how are they going to go after the other people that were involved at his ranch. Are arrest warrants going out for the shooters positioned on the overpass (I refuse to call them snipers or even designated marksman...not after the performance of the group in Oregon)?

Regardless, the militia movement has taken a big hit. YouTube is filled with "outrage" and talk of heading out...but its only talk. The reinforcements that the final 4 were expecting will never show up. Sunshine patriots or people using common sense? Either way the amount of finger pointing, accusations of being snitches/undercover agents, and expecting others to go while they remain safe will break the movement as it now exists. What bears watching is militia 2.0.

Will it come back in an improved form? Will it have an even more "military" type tone to it? Will they do background checks on people before they're allowed to join? Most ominously, will the 2.0 version be underground?

Majority of Women oppose registering for the draft.

via Free Beacon.
Some conservatives believe that imposing draft registration on women is survivable policy and goodpolitics—and there are plenty of others who disagree with them. Those who favor allowing the change to happen tend to see the issue as another culture war the GOP is destined to lose, harming Republicans at the ballot box and stealing oxygen from more important matters. Either way, it’s a hot issue on the right: Just within the last 24 hours, one prominent Republican Senator has come out for registering women, while another has said he’s introducing a bill to stop any such thing from happening.
And now, Rasmussen has released a survey that provides some clarity and basis for political calculation. The headline figure: Only 38 percent of likely female voters support the proposed new requirement, while just over half oppose it.
Personally I oppose registering women for the draft.  But since I was called a caveman for opposing women in combat then I guess its time to evolve on the issue.

Consider this....most men probably oppose registering for the draft too!

This is the first time a feminist issue has had real consequences for the entire sex.  The needs of a VERY few will affect the majority that want no part of this.  Interesting isn't it.

FBI captured Bundy on his way to the Oregon standoff...the Militia Movement is in turmoil..

Thanks to NoOldman1961 for the link!

via Oregon Live.
Cliven Bundy, the Nevada rancher who touched off one armed showdown with federal authorities and applauded another started in Oregon by his sons, was arrested late Wednesday at Portland International Airport and faces federal charges related to the 2014 standoff at his ranch.
Bundy, 74, was booked into the downtown Multnomah County jail at 10:54 p.m.
He faces a conspiracy charge to interfere with a federal officer -- the same charge lodged against two of his sons, Ammon and Ryan, for their role in the Jan. 2 takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Burns. He also faces weapons charges.
The Bundy Ranch Facebook page reported Cliven Bundy was surrounded by SWAT officers and detained after his arrival from Nevada.
He was arrested at 10:10 p.m., authorities said.
This just about puts a wrap in this thing.  They captured Bundy (I will never understand why he would leave his ranch to head to another standoff....was he smoking crack?) and the rest of the Militia Movement is turning on itself.

I won't link to all the videos but the accusations of being paid informants, of people being snitches, and of deals being cut is all over YouTube.

The Militia Movement is in turmoil.

I guess I over thought this thing.  I thought that with so much military and law enforcement (supposedly) in the ranks that they would be a bit more hardcore than they turned out to be.  Additionally I looked at the amount of weaponry at their disposal, and watched the videos and thought that they were motivated and convinced about their cause.

What actually happened?  The first real sign of resistance from the Feds and they crumbled like stale cookies.

FBI Tac Teams are done playing games. Surround Oregon 4 with armored vehicles...LISTEN TO A LIVE STREAM!

I guess the psych boys have had their day in the sun and now the Tac Teams are about to go hot.

My guess is that this show of force will be enough, but who knows.  I'm betting they'll give them about 5 hours.  If they storm the building it'll come about 3 or 4 am.....just enough time to let the adrenaline wear off from seeing the armored vehicles roll up and just before sunrise.....no one in the compound had night vision so the FBI owns the night....

UPDATE!!!  You can listen to the craziness here...the Oregon 4 are broadcasting live!

UPDATE!  The people inside are FRANTIC!  One guy is absolutely losing it! They're praying and I really wonder if that dude might not do something really stupid!

UPDATE!  The guy doing all the shouting is Micheal Fry.  His wife is screaming that she won't go to jail.  This is sounding like it might go sideways.

UPDATE!  This went weird because someone went out on a ATV and they got chased back into the compound.  It seems like the Oregon 4 did the escalation by giving the appearance that they wanted to escape.  Maybe the Tac Team is ready to let this go on a bit longer and this was just one of those "unplanned" occurrences that happens.

UPDATE!  Better LIVE FEED here!  An Oregon Assemblywoman is trying to talk these people down but failing terribly.

UPDATE!  Weird.  They're suppose to be hardcore but no one is doing weapons checks, no one is fortifying, no one is getting ready for a fight.  All they're doing is screaming and shouting talking about they hear helicopters coming in and all kinds of ministers and religious types are calling in.

UPDATE!  Fry just said that he'll take them out if they fire on him.  Interesting.  You know the FBI is monitoring this stuff and the FBI Tac Teams probably found this all funny as hell till he said that.  He just made himself TARGET NUMBER ONE when they do the breach.

UPDATE!  I still say the US Marshals Special Operations Group is the best in the federal service when it comes to trigger pullers.  I've seen those guys and they take it to a new level.  But the psychological ops that the FBI is running is nothing to sneeze at.  They have taken the measure of these people and they're playing them like one of those multi million dollar violins.  New personal task?  Stop hating on Human Terrain and PsyOps theory.  I need to study it.  That shit is real.  It doesn't work on religious extremist but it does work on Americans.

Its 45 fewer F-35's...McCord all but admits death spiral...

via UPI
The U.S. Air Force is deferring the purchase of 45 Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning IIfighters over the next five years to make room for other procurements.
Air Force officials say the move extends F-35 production plans over the next decade, while also allowing more funding for the recently contracted Long Range Strike Bomber among other projects.
U.S. Defense Under Secretary Mike McCord spoke to reporters on Tuesday, noting the Air Force is absorbing the biggest cuts of the three military branches procuring the aircraft.
"We are trying to get it back up to where we want it to be across the FYDP," McCord said. "But it's just a lot of money too, and it's unclear that we will be able to get this program back to the ramps that we had hoped for previously."
That last sentence says it all.  Unclear that we will be able to get this program back to the ramps that we had hoped for previously.

That's not even coded.  He's saying that the "bending of the cost curve" ain't gonna happen.

He's saying that the death spiral is here.

So why are they pushing forward with the LRSB and the KC-46?  Because they want to try and prevent what happened to the F-35 from happening to those programs.  They're hoping that they can fully fund those programs, get them in production and get them off the books.  The bet is that they MIGHT buy more F-35's later, but if they fully fund the F-35 now then they face the possibility of having the LRSB, and KC-46 fall into the 20 year development trap that the services face with the F-35.

Reality is a bitch and she's slapping the USAF upside the head.

UN calls for chaos in Europe...urges Turkey to open its borders!

via AP
Turkey must open its doors to the tens of thousands of Syrians who have massed at the border after fleeing violence, the U.N. demanded Tuesday, as an aide group said tents on the Syrian side are overcrowded and food in short supply.
Turkey, already home to 2.5 million Syrian refugees, insists it has an open-door policy toward Syrians escaping conflict but has still kept the key Bab al-Salameh border crossing closed for days. Government officials say Turkey will provide assistance to the displaced Syrians within their own borders "as much as possible" and would allow them in "when necessary."
UNHCR spokesman William Spindler asked Turkey on Tuesday to open the border to "all civilians who are fleeing danger and seeking international protection as they have done since the start of this crisis."

Spindler also urged other nations to shoulder more of the refugee burden and to work to end the conflict.

"The answer to this crisis is for the peace process to continue in Syria and for the conflict to be solved," Spindler said.
This is so obvious.  The UN is calling for Turkey to open its borders so that there will be chaos in Europe.  Additionally its calling for the peace process so that the rebels/ISIS can be saved from inevitable destruction.  This is a psyops campaign to force the West into saving the Rebels, not the people of Aleppo.

The UN is useless as an agency of peace.
