Late night observation. The welcome aboard between Biden and Trump is stunning...
I watched the inauguration of both Biden and Trump and I'm struck by how the news media and the "mainstream" politicians have/are handling it.
*Before Trump even took office we got news of the investigation into Russian collusion.
*We're getting hope and change part two with Biden.
*With Trump before he even took office we had "The Resistance".
*With Biden we get how we should all come together.
It's actually quite stunning.
While Biden talks about being president of all Americans the reality is that I'm not sure I want the America that he wants. Don't get it twisted. I don't stand with the White Supremacists that have infested the Republican Party (oh and make no mistake...Trump DID play with that movement), but I don't want my state to mirror California or New York.
I wish the guy well. If he does good we all do good (subjective I guess...what is your definition of his "doing good"?), but I think we're in for a quiet and very much subdued "Resistance" from the right.
My prediction?
Republicans will take back control of the House and Senate in the midterms, and Biden's administration will have some type of serious scandal that will doom their next presidential candidate.
In other words this entire DECADE is gonna suck.

Interesting.
Good for catching bad guys (I guess) but bad for public relations. Despite the anti-police rhetoric, many still like to be able to see police out and about doing their jobs.
Note. Don't flame me on that. I know the world hates cops but a few still like them.

Wow. Looks kinda awesome. The closest I've seen to this is what the US Army does down at Ft Bragg with their combatives. Quite a show but doesn't appear to be on this scale.

This is totally guess work on my part but does anyone believe that the DC Green Zone is temporary?
I mean think about it.
We've been told that the possibility of "attacks" on state houses and the nation's capital is real. Additionally we've been told that they take these threats seriously.
If all this is true then how can this thing end after the inauguration?
This thing is about to be permanent. We've entered a new stage. For better or worse we actually have internal security. Not the boy scout Capitol Police that are more for show than go but I'm thinking a full on reinforced (probably) Uniformed Secret Service Regiment guarding the entire place.
Going to my crystal ball you know what will happen next.
They're gonna have to move residents out of the city and into the suburbs. It's the only way to properly ensure security and we're gonna see entry only after vetting and everyone will be badged.
I have no idea how they'll do the tourist thing but that's gonna be a mess too. They'll probably hide behind covid for the next year and a half but eventually the masses will notice.
I wonder what the reaction will be.

Wow #2. The FBI is screening National Guard troops over worries of an INSIDER attack?

U.S. defense officials say they are worried about an insider attack or other threat from service members involved in securing President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration, prompting the FBI to vet all of the 25,000 National Guard troops coming into Washington for the event.
The massive undertaking reflects the extraordinary security concerns that have gripped Washington following the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol by pro-Trump rioters. And it underscores fears that some of the very people assigned to protect the city over the next several days could present a threat to the incoming president and other VIPs in attendance.
Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy told The Associated Press on Sunday that officials are conscious of the potential threat, and he warned commanders to be on the lookout for any problems within their ranks as the inauguration approaches. So far, however, he and other leaders say they have seen no evidence of any threats, and officials said the vetting hadn't flagged any issues.

Question. How did the election of one moron (party immaterial) become a threat to the Republic of this magnitude? I wasn't happy with Clinton but I grinned and dealt with it. Turned out not so bad. Some were pissed beyond belief with Obama. They did the same, with same results. How did we get to this????
