Metal Shark Developing Autonomous Naval Defense System for the US Marine Corps

Wow.

Now we're into the boat building business? What is our lane in this new Marine Corps?

It's really interesting.  Did you hear the news that the US Army is gonna get an unmanned JLTV that fires rockets just like the Marine Corps?

Everything that was supposed to be unique to the Marines is being acquired by the Army.

We're kinda back to the original thing that set us apart.

We go aboard ship.

We WERE a medium weight force that could scale up and down the spectrum of combat.

We HAD excellent combined arms of such a caliber that it was the envy of the world.

How much of that legacy is left under Berger?  What is the basic rule for every commander?  Always leave your command in better shape than when you found it.

Berger WILL FAIL that test.

By the time he's done he'll leave a Marine Corps that is gripped in a bigger fog than when even Amos had the helm and tried his air centric Marine Corps theme.

God I hope the next person is better cause we've had 3 failures in a row now.

Modern Army Needs 1960 US Army; The Big Picture TV

Modern Army Needs 1960 US Army; The Big Picture TV-473 from Jeff Quitney on Vimeo.

The US Army really needs to consider bringing back "The Big Picture" for the modern age.  Maybe the DoD needs it for the entire force.  We're unfocused when it comes to our defense needs (maybe that's an internal problem they need to solve first) and a public relations production might help.

We got one! Russian Pantsir air defense missile captured and flown INTACT to US for analysis!

Monkey model or mercenary operated?  It'll make a huge bit of difference if it was mercenary operated.  Monkey model?  Not so much.

And there goes American naval power...

That 300 ship fleet is nothing but a mirage.  Do you see how much combat power is being shed?

I don't understand how the Marine Corps can so quickly flow toward this littoral combat force if there is no freaking fleet to integrate with!

It's obvious.

The US Navy has to get the Chinese Navy out in deep water and hope it can drown it there.  Any fight in the littoral zone will result in heavy losses for our side and those Marines will be cut off and destroyed in short order.

The Commandant has visions of fighting within range of threat weaponry?  He should have visions of filled body bags and lost battalions without a trace.

Cracked him like a soft shell egg....Militiaman Who Plotted to Kidnap Gretchen Whitmer Pleads Guilty, Turns on His Pals

 via Daily Beast.

One of the Michigan militiamen accused of conspiring to overthrow the state government, kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and put her on trial for “treason” before Election Day has pleaded guilty in the foiled plot.

Ty Garbin, 25, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to the kidnapping conspiracy, marking the first conviction in the bizarre case that made national headlines in October. Fourteen men were accused of plotting to kidnap Whitmer and discussing plans to attack the state Capitol building and a police facility, and possibly take out Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, too. Prosecutors allege the group, which included several militia group members, were frustrated over strict COVID-19 lockdown orders in Democrat-run states.

According to the plea agreement, Garbin has agreed to “fully cooperate” with the federal authorities, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Michigan State Police, and other law enforcement agencies.

During a Wednesday hearing, U.S. District Judge Robert Jonker stressed to Garbin that, as part of the agreement, he may be “called to the courtroom and obligated to tell the truth… even if it ends up hurting people you know. Do you think you could do that?”

“I could, your honor,” Garbin replied.

What happens when you deploy for an exercise and the host country cancels? 1,000 Marines are about to find out ... Norway gives the boot!

 via Stars & Stripes

The Marine Corps is assessing what to do with 1,000 Marines who recently arrived in Norway for a large training exercise, which was canceled because of concerns about an increase in coronavirus cases in the country.

Norwegian Defense Minister Frank Bakke-Jensen on Tuesday announced that Exercise Joint Viking had been called off.

Here

This is interesting.  The Norwegian MOD is pretty darn efficient when it comes to defense depts so I doubt that this was a last minute call.  Correction.  I'm sure they gave the US a heads up that this could happen.

Is it a case where we just said fuck it and move forward or was it actually up in the air for a bit?

Doesn't matter I'm just curious.

Injury Report for Capitol Police after DC Riot? One officer has two cracked ribs and two smashed spinal discs. One officer is going to lose his eye and another was stabbed with a metal fence stake”

That's what I call a bad day at work.  Bad but not as terrible a day as the LEO that died from his injuries.
