F-15EX test pilot Matt Giese says he and Mike Quintini took the jet up to 40,000ft and went to Mach 2.

 

Nothing like the sting of failure (in the form of the KC-46) to focus the mind of defense procurement & corporations to get it right the next time up.

Hopefully this will carry on to the soon to arrive (but not soon enough) replacement for the F-35.

German Army's Wiesel Replacement (Concept)

 


Looks neat but I have two questions.  Why would you make the turret manned? The second is questioning the firepower.  That looks like another 20mm cannon. If you're not going bigger then why even bother?

The vehicle itself?  Looks fantastic!  I kinda get why MilTwitter is going nuts over this thing (and by MilTwitter I mean the armored vehicle section).

Milrem's Type-X UGV undergoing high speed winter testing...



Wow.  This thing is FAST (well it looks fast as hell).  Has anyone ever asked what's the top speed of these unmanned ground vehicles?  Milrem is doing great work on these things but I have to wonder if the US Army didn't hit on something when they said that during testing troops were considering them disposable assets and not using them as wisely as they should.

We're looking at not only awesome tech but potentially awesome (and lethal) tech that should be used like a one thousand dollar hand thrown drone.

Much learning is left to be done before we're able to get the ground manned-unmanned teaming right.
