Buttery, warm and flaky Ham, Egg, and Cheese Breakfast Braids

Leaked video of the F-35C ramp strike has me conflicted...

By now you've all seen this video.

I'm not a fan of the F-35 and even less of a fan of the F-35C. But naval aviation is inherently dangerous so I can't quite get excited about a mishap.  I am pleased that no one died, but as far as the accident?  Shit happens.

But what has me conflicted is how the military forces of the West (particularly with regard to the F-35 but other incidents are popping off I'm sure that are less high profile) handle these things.

Remember the deal with the F-35 going off the Brit carrier?

We got info on it from a leak.

This ramp strike?

We got info on it from a leak.

I want our military to be alot more forthcoming with info. I believe that the public has a right to know. BUT!!!!  If there is a good reason why they didn't release this info directly then we've got a problem.

That means that someone released classified info into the wild without authorization and we have seen NO punishment for it.

That's a recipe for continued infractions.  It's also sloppy infosec.

If its not classified and the military didn't release it themselves then it shows that they're in a fetal position and are so frightened of the public that they feel a need to hide the truth.

Either situation isn't good for our force.

Am I wrong or did I hit it right?

Face Mask Zealots are losing their minds in Berlin...they beat a girl for not wearing one!

Congrats. Govts around the world have so scared some of their populations that even wearing masks that HAVE NO RATING (and therefore are 99% ineffective for their intended job..my guess) that they have become judge/jury/executioner for even children that decide (or forgot to bring it with them) not to wear them. Govt response to covid is part of the reason why societies around the world are breaking. You probably haven't noticed if you just watch US news but protests in Europe over covid restrictions are a very real thing. ITS NOT just an American thing.

Ok Gents. The Stage is set. Russian forces are deployed & NATO has done its countermoves. What's next?

The Stage is set so what's next in this global, potential clustefuck? My guess (rather hope) is that we get both sides posturing till they back down.  Like a reader said, the diplomats will break arms patting themselves on the back for averting war, Putin will have made his point, and Biden will declare that we're seeing a new age of American power where war isn't the final option. It'll be theater. It'll all be bullshit.  But everyone will win praise from the media and the public will be allowed to get back to worry about real issues in their lives....until the next drama starts up.
But forget what I think. What do you gents believe is up next?

Japanese AAVs about to swim...

German Puma IFV in the woods...

I'll take the hits on this one. I follow a bunch of units and get jumbled on what country they're from, the exercises going on etc...My bad...Hopefully you find the pics interesting tho...

Bad omen!

Certain journalist are not impressed with the 82nd deterring Russia on Ukraine

Ooooh burn! Paratroopers, Light Infantry, Marines...hell even Stryker Brigades are just speed bumps at worst and trip wires at a very worst to situations like this. You need a fully capable armored task force with sufficient supporting fires and air support. That would be a deterrent. The deployment of the 82nd is theater (can't lie...for events like this I'd like to see Marine Corps units involved), but as far as actually being seen as a threat (especially with the statements that have come out of the White House) and a sad joke.

Side note.  Russia ain't gonna make a push into ANY NATO country. Moving troops and ships around is wasteful and not to be taken seriously.

Well fuck! Marine Corps artillery didn't win one event against the 25th DivArty....

Oh well.  Maybe we'll do better with missiles?  Earn the name Missile Marines?

LAR NEO...by Sgt. Danny Gonzalez

Something is going on with LAR. Not sure what the plans are but they're sure using them in ways we haven't seen. Launching UAVs, doing this NEO exercise? They've been doing everything but their traditional mission set. Quite honestly they can take the turrets off because traditional recon seems to be a thing of the past for them. Wonder if they're setting the stage to combine LAR with ACV (and use the same vehicle) to further downsize the Marine Corps? Makes sense. Would fall in line with this EABO thing (which HQMC still can't properly message) and would probably save money (assuming they use the ACV platform). Let's face it. Berger almost put the ARV on the chopping block and while I still can't figure how the ACV fits into his concept (especially since island hopping and small units are his thing...along with amphibious assaults being out) but I sense something happening here.

Euripides has provided us with the answer on a possible war in Ukraine...

Gents we are living in a land of mirrors.  This is statecraft at it's best.

We are only catching glimpses of what's really going on and policy makers on both sides will keep us in the dark (those poor souls on the ground on both sides are in the dark even more than we are so pity them if war comes I doubt either side will know why they died or were seriously injured).

There is only one answer.

Question EVERYTHING!

Another comment that needs its own blog post...

If the US "retreats" from Europe it has no chance against the Russia China Iran North Korea bloc. For the simple reason that western Europe has a lot of people with the same mentality of retreating and "accommodating" Russia. Germany has already surrendered, Italy is well Italy and France leadership is opportunistic and weak. UK has been "encouraged" by the same Russia loving conservatives to leave EU and stop being a counterbalance to Germany.

What the absolute fuck.

You want the reality?

Europe has a larger GDP than the US.  Has a larger population. Has similar (in some cases) superior tech.  Has a higher standard of living.  Has robust social safety nets.  Has lower crime.  Has an equal (and when it comes to schooling before college superior) education system.

So considering all of the above AND a whole lot of things that I didn't list (help me out guys) it boggles the imagination why we need to SUBSIDIZE European Defense!

We're not only doing it with out money, but we're also being asked to do it with the LIVES of our service men & women.

I call bullshit on this.

Retreat from Europe?  More like get smart and put America first...once we're sorted out then we MIGHT lend a hand if you really need it.
