VIKING Coy (Canadian Army) includes a contribution from the 12e Régiment de blindé (12 RBC).

And here it comes...German food retailers to raise prices by 20-50% on Monday

I have to be careful. BUT!!!! Told ya so. The sanctions were dramatic. I get the why behind it, but I still believe that they were applied without thoughts of knock-on effects/consequences. Well now the German people (and soon even us in America) will feel it full force.

Global Unrest Spreads....Pakistan in turmoil..

Pakistan is nuclear armed. This ain't good.

25th ID is set to pick up the Amphibious Assault role while US Marines land to look back at the sea...

Is there ANY Marine Corps on this planet that lands (formerly assaulted) to look back at the sea instead of pushing in to assault an objective? Well we have one now. The USMC (they really should change the name) is going to land on a beach and look back at the sea instead of seizing ground. That is a huge void. I've been monitoring the 25th ID and while they'll also pick up the coastal defense mission (they'll have more anti-ship missiles in that one division than will the entire USMC), they're also (from my chair) looking to pick up the amphibious assault role too. I've never seen Soldiers outside of Special Forces spend as much time in the water as these bubbas. Voids are designed to be filled. Looks like the 25th is filling this one.

U.S. and Philippine Marines and Sailors conduct a bilateral amphibious landing during Balikatan 22, Claveria, Philippines

Amphibious Assaults are no longer part of our creed. Time to get Army armor onboard Navy ships so that we can revitalize that capability.

Armor will respond after this fight...expect APS, micro UAVs and copious amounts of cannon artillery, along with mech scouts roaming to blunt the anti-tank show we've seen...

Everyone, including myself, gets caught up in the moment.  Even if we don't see things clearly (we can't in the middle of a war with propaganda from BOTH sides flying), you can bet that certain specialties in the military are already responding.

Which brings me to the armored branch.

You can bet every armor expert from the US Army (don't include the USMC, we're out of that business), to China, Russia, Turkey, the UK, Poland...damn near everyone is looking at this fight and trying to figure things out.

Starting with the Russians and Chinese.

If Ukraine pushes the Russians out of Crimea then hold on and be strong.

That bear will be back with a vengeance (which is why I think security guarantees are so freaking important AND dangerous to peace in Europe...if hastily applied we could see a REALLY big fight in the near future).

You can expect the Russians and Chinese to look at their current MBTs, vehicles that they thought was good enough and quickly move onto the next generation.

What does that mean?

T-14 Armatas probably in Russia and China.

You can probably figure on enhanced APS and micro UAVs to scout ahead of armored formations.  Mech Scouts will be revitalized in ways that were hardly imagined at the start of 2022 and you can bet they'll be drilled to damn near elite levels.

Cannon artillery will make a comeback and you'll see its use against anti-tank teams before they come into range of armored forces....massives fires just to kill a team and even more fires to make sure they're done.

Additionally I think you'll see massive strides in mobility applies and perhaps a decrease in armor and even more reliance on the APS for protection.

Fights in cities are looking to become as horrific as I've thought. JUST AS I'VE STATED the idea of sending infantry into even small cities to clear out defenders is gonna go the way of the dodo bird (it was always a batshit stupid idea...this war just put an exclamation point on it...WHERE DO PLANNERS GET THIS SHIT?).

In short?

America and the rest of the world is STARTING (they're not all there yet because these theorist are so freaking wedded to their ideas that its almost religion) to realize what the real old skool Soldiers and Marines always knew (talking about WW2, Korean War, and Vietnam War...let me add the Fallujah and Sodder City vets too).

Fights in cities is beyond fucked up.  Planning to fight in a mega city is insanity.

Lastly, everyone is talking about peer vs peer warfare.

We should pray to whatever God you worship that it never comes.

Why?

Because in that type of fight the populations of both sides will be dramatically and traumatically affected.  If the US were to be actually involved in a war against China or Russia or both, you can bet that the homeland will be hit.  If not kinetically then certainly with cyber attacks and the populations on the East and West Coast will be vulnerable to something as simple as turning off the power.

German Chemical Giant Warns Of "Total Collapse" If Russian Gas Supply Cut

Thanks to J Villain for the link!

via Zero Hedge

CEO of Germany's multinational BASF SE, the world's largest chemical producer, has warned that curbing or cutting off energy imports from Russia would bring into doubt the continued existence of small and medium-sized energy companies, and further would likely spiral Germany into its most "catastrophic" economic crisis going back to the end of World War 2.

Company CEO Martin Brudermuller issued the words in an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine newspaper just ahead of German officials by midweek giving an "early warning" to industries and the population of possible natural gas shortages, as Russia appears ready to firmly hold to Putin's recent declaration that "unfriendly countries" must settle energy payments in rubles, related to the Ukraine crisis and resultant Western sanctions.

According to Bloomberg he mused that while "Germany could be independent from Russia gas in four to five years" it remains that "LNG imports cannot be increased quickly enough to replace all Russian gas flows in the short term."

Here

I like boring.  Boring is so AWESOME to me.  The world and many of my readers don't want boring.

So.....

Pass the popcorn.

I'll do my best to make sure me and mine are as "insulated" from the madness as possible (and do more if I haven't planned properly), but watching this shit show should be fascinating. Oh and have no doubts...this applies to all the things we've ever talked about on this blog.

What Marine Generals hate Berger's plan? How about Dunford, Kelly & Mattis!!!! MUST READ ARTICLE!!!!

 via Politico

An influential group of over two dozen retired generals has launched a counteroffensive against plans to transform the Marine Corps, and is using their clout in a high-power pressure campaign to get Congress to slam on the brakes.

The roster of personalities includes every living former commandant, along with a slew of other retired four-star generals revered within the Corps. And all of them are bristling at different aspects of foundational changes introduced by Commandant Gen. David Berger, who aims to make the Corps lighter, faster and more capable of doing everything from electronic warfare to sinking ships at sea.

The group of retired generals includes former Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, former Joint Chiefs Chair Joe Dunford and John Kelly, a former Homeland Security chief and White House chief of staff.

“This is not a fragmented effort, this is a collective of 30 some generals … including six or seven of the most senior, most credible Marines that I’ve ever worked with,” said Frank Hoffman, distinguished research fellow at the National Defense University and a retired Marine officer. Yet he also noted that Berger’s efforts have already been blessed by Congress and the Pentagon brass, so putting a stop to them now is unlikely.

The Marine Corps’ two-year-old plan represents a fundamental shift in how the Corps equips its troops and goes to war. The Corps’ 400-odd tanks have already been shifted to the Army, helicopter wings put in storage, and infantry units are being reconfigured to become smaller and more nimble.

The changes are part of a wider rethinking of how the military is funded and structured to meet China and Russia, which are challenging post-Cold War U.S. military dominance. It’s no surprise that the Corps in particular, with its mystique of grit and self-reliance, would struggle with such rapid, deep-rooted changes.

A spokesperson for Berger declined to comment on the specifics of the retired general’s criticisms, and instead pointed to statements Berger has made to Congress and in public as to why the modernization push is necessary.

Several of the generals met with Berger on March 3 to voice their concerns, but walked away dissatisfied that they had been heard, Paul Van Riper, a retired lieutenant general who served as head of Marine Corps Combat Development Command, told POLITICO.

Really? Are you people that sensitive that I don't spout the party line?

Interesting.  I guess we won't be talking about Ukraine anymore. Congrats.  You freaks muzzled me.  Dissent or different opinions will not be tolerated.  Only groupthink is allowed.  1984 indeed.

Dear Publisher,

Due to the war in Ukraine, we will pause monetization of content that exploits, dismisses, or condones the war.

Please note, we have already been enforcing on claims related to the war in Ukraine when they violated existing policies (for instance, the Dangerous or Derogatory content policy prohibits monetizing content that incites violence or denies tragic events). This update is meant to clarify, and in some cases expand, our publisher guidance as it relates to this conflict.

This pause includes, but is not limited to, claims that imply victims are responsible for their own tragedy or similar instances of victim blaming, such as claims that Ukraine is committing genocide or deliberately attacking its own citizens.

Until next time,

How many of you are old enough to remember this?

If you remember this then you're old as fuck! Anyway I do. I also recall wondering to myself if the Chinese didn't intentionally do the deed. I guess we'll never know but one thing is probable. With increased activity within the Pacific, you can bet that we'll see a re-run of this incident. What happens if it's one of our spy birds or an F-35 that crashes and is recovered before we can get to it? I don't know the answer but it's a helluva "what if".

Textron Systems SECAT

If Berger was smart he'd head over to Textron, talk to the leadership - haggle on the price and then tell the SecNav that this is the ship he is looking for and call it a day. His dream is slipping away (much to my joy) and unless he moves fast it'll fade into dust. Speed is of the essence and the inflation monster is about to gobble up US Defense Spending.
