In the buildup to the current Ukrainian counteroffensive, the US urged Kyiv to keep the operation limited in both its objectives and its geography to avoid getting overextended and bogged down on multiple fronts, multiple US and western officials and Ukrainian sources tell CNN.
Those discussions involved engaging in "war-gaming" with Kyiv, the sources said -- analytical exercises that were intended to help the Ukrainian forces understand what force levels they would need to muster to be successful in different scenarios.
The Ukrainians were initially considering a broader counteroffensive, but narrowed their mission to the south, in the Kherson region, in recent weeks, US and Ukrainian officials said.
Pentagon spokesperson Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder told CNN that "the United States has routine military-to-military dialogue at multiple levels with Ukraine. We will not comment on the specifics of those engagements. Generally speaking, we provide the Ukrainians with information to help them better understand the threats they face and defend their country against Russian aggression. Ultimately, the Ukrainians are making the final decisions for their operations."
This is from a week ago. Biden announced another 3 billion dollars in aid to Ukraine.

Shmyhal is scheduled to meet German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin on Sep. 4, where the officials are expected to discuss how Ukraine’s security assistance needs are shifting towards heavy offensive weapons.
“We expect the United States to supply us with Abrams tanks, and Germany (to provide) Leopard-2 (main battle tanks or MTBs),” said Shmyhal.
“These are the kind of modern tanks Ukraine needs on the battlefield.”

They have been pushing propaganda so hard that now they believe it.
They can demand NOTHING. They can however ask.
The only thing I insist upon is that whoever is doing the assessment of what we will send, consider whether or not its in the USA's national interest, will it detract from our own defense, will it destabilize the region and do the Ukrainians have safeguards in place to make sure that it doesn't end up in a terror camp somewhere.
From my chair, no one in the Pentagon or State Dept can ensure that Ukrainians meet those simple preconditions so the answer is not only no but hell no.
Oh and if I was in charge I'd add that next time they ask, they better ASK and not fucking demand.

The MoD approved the development of an improved version of the Type 12 SSM on December 18, 2020 by the Cabinet. According to Japanese newspapers, the range will be extended from 200 km to 900 km, with a future target of 1,500 km. It will have a stealthy shape to reduce RCS, as well as high mobility to prevent interception from the enemy. It can attack not only naval vessels but also ground targets. The MoD intends to launch the improved Type 12 SSM not only from the ground, but also from naval vessels and aircraft.[8]
The Japanese are lowkey getting ready for the confrontation with China.
I would not be surprised if they already had nuclear bombs or have the capability to rapidly produce them if necessary.

The last thing the Marine Corps needs is for the public to believe that they've taken sides.

Note. This is a nightmare scenario from my most fevered dreams. If Russia can unite India and China into a cooperation block that covers military and economic affairs then we're screwed. Remember too that we've been trying to woo India for awhile and they continue to play the middle ground. Their participation in this exercise with China(who they've had hostilities with) is chilling.

Russia is holding major military exercises involving China and India as President Vladimir Putin pushes back against attempts by the US and its allies to isolate him over his invasion of Ukraine.
More than 50,000 troops and 5,000 pieces of military equipment, including more than 140 aircraft and 60 warships, are due to take part in the week-long Vostok-2022 war games that start Thursday in Russia’s far east, including naval drills in the Sea of Japan.
The regular exercises bring together member states and partners of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Russian-led Collective Security Treaty Organization of former Soviet republics.
Also remember that the US has been trying desperately to get India to go along with the sanctions against Russia.
