German police calling for KNIFE free zones on trains and inner city areas...

Interesting. No guns but now knives are the problem. The morale of the story? Humans have a capacity for violence and some will exercise it no matter what laws are put in place. Ban knives and bats will be used. Ban bats and rocks will be used. The solution is simple and stark. The tool is irrelevant. There are no excuses whether poverty, or whatever. The issue is that evil exists and people will do evil things. Those people should be locked up and separated from society. In the most grievous cases they should be executed. Victims matter too. We've reached a point where sympathy for the crimminal has destroyed the justice system.

In effect, the West’s commitment to burn the ruble has backfired.

 via National Interest

The hastening began with the Ukraine war, with the United States forcing the West into a round of sanctions against Russia. With the Russians placing a limit on the price of their gold, Russian investors were stuck with an undervalued ruble, therefore forcing it to rise vis-a-vis the dollar. In the last six months, the ruble has steadily strengthened. Then Putin added the double whammy that oil purchasers must buy in rubles. Or gold. If they buy in gold, they are effectively getting a discount on the oil. This also heaps pressure on the supply of gold, raising the price.

In effect, the West’s commitment to burn the ruble has backfired. The strengthening of the oil price has had a concomitant strengthening effect on the ruble. The upshot of this? In the land of paper, commodities are king. Russia and China are now able to control the prices of gold and oil, which is epoch-defining. We are moving away from Westworld.

At last year’s St. Petersburg Economic Investment Forum, the CEO of Gazprom forewarned about the shift to a new dynamic: “The game of nominal value of money is over, as this system does not allow to control the supply of resources.” It signals the emergence of “outside money,” to quote Poszar again, rather than “inside money,” i.e. the use of debt and fiat currency. The post-Lehman Brothers world has been built on the property stripping of the world, using cheap debt for institutional investors to wrest more and more property under their umbrella. The world of the dollar reserve system is coming to an end. Inside money has been artificially inflated by the West in order to cheaply buy the assets of the Orient. Now it’s payback time for the Orient. The West emphasizes rules and laws as a means to accrue wealth; in the Orient, the workhouse of the world, wealth is created through labor and invention. This is the fundamental malaise of the Anglophone world: it is not the absence of fruit in the supermarket post-Brexit; it is the civilizational surrender of the very ethos which gave the nations their success in the first place.

Here

New information so I have a new theory.

The moves by the US and EU to so heavily sanction the West will be seen as the opening shot of the next world war.

At the very least it will be seen as being the reason behind the huge shift into a basket of currencies.

A few conservative talk show hosts are talking about how China could wreck our and their economy simply by dumping dollars at a time and place of their choosing.

But there is an upshot I haven't heard anyone talking about.  China has been hoarding gold like crazy!  They'll get hit but they'll weather the storm to a certain extent.  So will the elite in the US but the little guy will get utterly crushed.

I warned about the crazy sanctions but no one listened.  Are they now?  I doubt it.  Normalcy bias is strong (Goon taught me that one...I had it bad too!).

But let me hit you with one more theory.

I wonder if the US would actually risk a major war with China over Taiwan (the Taiwanese have doubts)?

We would happily engage in a major war with China if we felt that it was endangering our way of life...if it would literally plunge us into a depression.

I get nervous when both sides of the isle are talking happily about war.

If you've been paying attention the "freedom and democracy" talk has been replaced with a simple "we will not be dictated to by China".

War is inevitable.

China seems to know it and appears to be planning accordingly.

Meanwhile in the US, we're still acting as if all is well while our elected officials are ramping things up (even with the totally ineffective and morally deficient Milley wants stuff tamped down).

I don't know if we're militarily, economically or socially ready for a big fight right now.

Sidenote.  If the need is extreme then all you bubbas (retirees, vets, etc..) could be involuntarily recalled up to the age of 60...you ain't in the clear yet!  I'm just the messenger.  Your commitment to the defense of America does not end at your EAS (or so they told me!).

So much for the Ukrainian offensive...

Don't know who did this leak but this is crazy. I consider this to be more damaging then the Snowden drama. From my chair this isn't diplomatic/embarassing, this is real deal military intel that got spilled. The weird thing I've been online and haven't seen any of the leaked documents on Twitter or Instagram or Telegram, just thru MSM.

The Chinese put up a pretty impressive strike package near Taiwan...

I thought this was over. I was wrong. The pressure continues. I wonder how long both sides can keep up this tempo. The aircraft and flight crews can be rotated in and out. Same with the ship crews. The wear and tear is gonna be with the Command & Control and shore based anti-air/sea batteries. Alerts get tiring after awhile. Eventually, even if they show up, human nature is gonna say its just another drill which is a whole different kind of danger.

Where is the mandated CONGRESSIONAL report on Force Design 2030????

 via Compass Points

General Krulak and many others still have substantial questions about Force Design 2030 -- those with doubts include Congress. It has been reported to Compass Points that Congress is still waiting on the Marine Corps to submit a mandated report on Force Design 2030. The mandated report was due 1 April 2023.  The Marine Corps missed the deadline to submit the report. Congress is still waiting for answers.

Along with saluting General Charles Krulak for his Bloomberg interview, Compass Points is left wondering, where is the mandated report?

Here

FD2030 is a house of cards.

House of cards always collapse....just like FD2030 is doing now.

You delay a report when you can't defend your position.

Is Israel about to kick something off?

The renaming of bases begins and the history of BLACK servicemen is being erased...

Wow.

Are you watching this?  Are you getting the full ramifications of this?

I'm getting personal so buckle and be prepared for the "common narrative" to be blown out the water by a black guy.

My father was a Vietnam Vet.  He was infantry.  He dealt with the US Army during the bad times of the 60's.  He served for 22 years and I didn't know it but he was terribly scared by his time in the 'NAM.

I was an Army brat.  We moved from base to base experienced the crazy country in ways that many people growing up never will and I'm the better for it.

I lived, he served at Ft Bragg, Ft Hood, Ft Polk and Ft Knox.

Now they're gonna rename some of the places that I grew up on and that he served at?

I consider it bullshit.

I know nothing about (well at the time) about the "why" behind the base names.  I just knew that I lived there, pops served there and its part of my history.

Now they're erasing the history of my DAD?

Now they decide that after so long they need a name change and are ignoring the idea that despite the name, many BLACK SERVICEMEN served and served with distinction at those bases and its PART OF THEIR HISTORY?

Spare me the idea that this is being done for the sake of "equity".

It's the destruction of history.  More importantly it doesn't serve a real purpose.

It's just change.  Expensive change for no reason and it once again de-couples our past from our future.

My solution (people always want me to offer up solutions when I point out problems) is to simply put an asterisk by the name if you must and denote that the bases are named after men that fought against the govt and that they were so named as an attempt to placate racists that still lived in the south.

Full stop and that would solve the problem.

Erasing history doesn't change history.  This action only minimizes the trailblazers that set the stage for a better today though.

Why are NATO advisors still allowing the Ukrainians to conduct single tank ops?

Everytime I see a lone armored vehicle go out to conduct ops I wonder WTF! It makes no sense to me and I can't think of ANY FORCE on the planet that would operate this way. It's in no ones doctrine. So why are NATO advisors still allowing the Ukrainians to do it? I don't know but it irks the hell outta me. War is terrible but they're just wasting lives. Even worse I have to wonder if the soldiers doing these ops even know how batshit crazy it is.

Note.  Correction, that Ukrainian AND Russian forces are into this. Since they're cousin countries I guess that's just how they roll but its still insane to me.

One other thing on the conduct of this war.  The Ukrainians make a big show of how their UAVs are plinking vehicles and infantry all over the battlefield.  When are the Russians gonna start countering that?

This war is insanity.  It's almost like its designed to just drag on, not to reach a conclusion.

Have you noticed that outside of a few notable exceptions (the Falklands and Gulf War 1), every war waged in the modern era is a long slog with no real ending?  20 years and no favorable outcome to the war in Afghanistan?  Almost as long in Iraq and they're practically Iranian allies?  Stuck in Syria doing only God knows what and no end in sight?

If we were a real military in the form of the War Dept, we'd see a whole slew of generals fired for incompetence (how can losing wars be a career enhancer but somehow it is now)!

Winning wars is no longer the objective.  War is simply another business model and the continuation of war is good business.  I guess the end of the cold war and the peace dividend led to long wars being baked into the cake of the military industrial complex!

New Chinese aircraft carrier is looking impressive...

The USMC were the innovators of the military world in the 20th Century. Can the Turks claim the lead in the 21st?

Hit the translator button that comes with Tweets, but to make it short and sweet. The Turks are claiming to be innovators with first the Bayraktar (used by Ukraine in their war), and now are claiming the same with a paradigm shift in aerial warfare with this new UAV.

They have a point.

They're about to launch their first LHD with a deck load of these planes and its something we haven't seen before.

If successful then the sky is the limit and their ability to generate combat power will be impressive.

Think about it.

An LHD that equals a full sized aircraft carrier in aircraft and sortie generation?

If the Commandant had chosen to go down this land then we could still have a capable Ground Combat Element AND had a credible force to contribute to the sea battle.

Just two or three big decks (the two America class and one more with well deck) could make a huge difference and usher in a new era in naval warfare.

But alas, other choices were made.

But back to the Turks.

Ya know what's funny?  We in essence brought this on ourselves by not selling the F-35.  Actually by negating that sale we sped up their homegrown defense industries.

Instead of going to Russia or China, they developed their own stuff and from my chair I'm impressed.

On a geopolitical scale they're a major player in Europe AND the Middle East.

They are in a position to alter the balance of power at a whim.

So interesting.  So very interesting and probably a warning for the future.

Measure twice, cut once.  That goes for the military industrial complex too.

Combat Engineers along with their vehicles are necessary for modern warfare...unless you're a totally defensive force then all you need are a few CATs..

Combat Engineers and their breacher vehicles are gonna continue to be a necessary part of modern warfare...unless you're a totally defensive force or can only carry out assaults with light infantry. In that case all you need is a few caterpillars to dig the trenches/graves for your forces.

Italy! WTF! This how you celebrate Easter bro?

Not for the brothers! Luv Italy but damn Easter is a no-go!

Sidenote.  I did this post and realized something.  On the geo-political scene I tend to lump Europe in one big basket.  That's how the elites paint the picture but I wonder if its really that simple. Southern Europe is interesting.  Not necessarily military or economic powerhouses but definitely in line with my thinking on relations.  To an extent the same can be said of Northern Europe. It's really only Germany, France, the UK and now Poland that I think will stumble us into unnecessary drama.

Happy Easter

Ponzinibbio talked about CRUSHING Holland. Life comes hard when you talk shit you can't back up!

Israel Adesanya brought the pain!

French President Macron wants Europe to reduce its dependency on the US and become an "autonomous third superpower.”

Wow.

Europe is not to be trusted.  Full stop.  THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED!

They're using the US and because so many of our elites have this deep yearning to be "European" they are led by the nose into acting like the US and EU are one and the same.

We are not.

Note that this is in the middle of the Ukrainian/Russian war.  A war that so many of our European allies say is for worldwide democracy.

You don't have to agree with me but make note of this.  Europe needs to be cut off now and we need to pursue an HARDCORE AGENDA of looking after ONLY US INTERESTS TODAY (and that has nothing to do with the EU/Ukraine or any other hanger's on!).

Are you seeing this shit around Taiwan?

Are you seeing this shit around Taiwan?

Know your enemy and make note of his capabilities.

China just surged 71 warships, numerous merchant ships and their Coast Guard along with aircraft and untold number of ground based mobile missile systems (with the range to hit Taiwan) super quick.

Drink that in.

We have just under 300 warships in our Navy.

China just surged 71 of theirs in short order.  Could we surge almost 1/3rd of our warships as fast?

Additionally we have no idea of the number of subs either.  We don't know the number of other important combat vehicles/aircraft/ships (or combat capable) that are floating out there either.

The DoD, Congress and others are talking about war with China without taking a serious look at our own forces.

Sorry.

You can push the woke agenda all day.  You can beat the drum that tech will win out over steely resolve and the ability to close with and destroy the enemy but I don't buy it.

We better get hard.

With all the shit talking I'm hearing we better get hard quick!

Let's not fool ourselves.  The US President, the US Congress, the US Dept Of Defense, US State Dept, each and every military service, and the American people are not ready for the fight so many are asking for.
