There will be no crisis response void. If the USMC won't do it then the Army gladly will

If you haven't been paying attention then let me be the one to tell you. While the USMC has been pushing Force Design 2030, otherwise known as coast watcher/WW2 coast defense battalions for the modern era, the 82nd has been ramping up its crisis response exercises. Most of their exercises are shaped around crisis response.

Its obvious that if the USMC won't do it then the 82nd Airborne will.

Even more ominous?

You're seeing the 101st doing the same and we haven't even talked about the 173rd in Italy.

The DoD and the American public abhor a vacuum, especially in defense.

It really looks like the Marine Corps abandoned this mission, the 82nd picked it up and once caught on their bullshit the Marine Corps is trying to get back in the game.

It's probably too late now though.  You can't go from being a totally defensive, small unit, recon/counter recon outfit back into door kickers and life takers.

Ukrainians didn't read the room right. They were demanding when they should have been humble...

This ain't the first time I've seen reports like this, this week. I didn't comment on them because they were on individual twitter accts but its reached critical mass and needs to be talked about. People are tired of this war, tired of the demands for more, more, more and they're tired of the group think surrounding this thing. Even Brazil's President has said that people are tired of this clusterfuck.

I believe there is nothing complicated about this.

People are tired of gyrating from crisis to crisis.

If there isn't an obvious one then there is a created one.  I can do the tick tock of things in the US that they're using to rile the public but it spans the gamut.  From trans to climate change to military issues, no matter what your interests are they have a crisis ready made to get you spinning.

I really believe that chaos is the goal.

They want us distracted (with the help of the USELESS news media) while they attempt more control.

One example and I'll end this rant.  Remember Tik-Tok?  Remember how it was a national security issue and how we needed to ban Tik-Tok in order to protect ourselves from the Chinese?  Remember how the legislation had bipartisan support and it was headed for easy passage....UNTIL...we learned that it was a bill designed to spy on the American citizenry in ways that China's Tik-Tok didn't even push?

It's all about control.

Serbia showed that over reliance on tech could lead to mistakes.

* Combat Camera sucks ass. They don't know how to use pics to frame a story anymore. Don't know what happened, but the quality of their work has took a deep dive for the worse. How bad is it? GETTY won't be stealing public domain pics and trying to sell them anymore.

How come no one told me that the Russians had launched a limited offensive???

You fuckers! Talking to Maria, S300V4 and a few others. How come none of you told me that the Russians had launched a limited offensive? I had gotten reports of them supposedly massing 100K troops and a large number of tanks/ifvs but I blew it off. THIS IS NOT HOW OPEN SOURCE IS SUPPOSED TO WORK!

Gold Star families are upset that phones had cards removed. I understand their pain but its a mercy...

Wow.  Watching the news and Gold Star families are upset that they didn't get the sim cards from the phones of their fallen.

I understand their pain but its a tender mercy.

Hell.  The Marine Corps is taking care of its own AND the families...even in the Sheriff's Dept its understood that you don't give the phone back.  It was wrecked in the fight, car accident whatever needs to be said.

Is it to cause the family additional pain?

No.

Not at all.

But you never know what someone has on their phone.  The Marine Corps (if its a good unit) will always have someone go thru gear (probably twice so nothing is missed) so that the family isn't shocked or embarrassed by whatever their loved one was into.

I'm talking sexually, emotionally, financially, morally, the whole gamut of things.

What is terrible is that someone can't properly explain (I wonder if it could even be explained) that this isn't done to cause more hurt but to protect.

Forget Force Design 2030. You want real reform in the US military? Cut the number of generals by 75% (you would still have too many)!!!

Have you noticed something about Berger and his alcolytes Force Design 2030?

They cut end strength like it was no one's business.  They shed combat power the way a hooker sheds panties in a back alley in New Orleans.

They didn't cut the number of generals though.

The USMC has 4 divisions.  4 Air Wings.  Title 10 says it is to have no less than 3.

How many generals?

62.

Sixty Two generals to handle 3 divisions (1 Reserve), 3 Air Wings (1 Reserve) and of course all the logistics that go along with that.

62.

Doesn't sound like a lean mean service does it.

You cut the number of generals in the USMC by 75% and you're down to 17.  Let's make it a round number for shit's sake and you're back up to 20.

20 freaking generals to lead 3 active duty divisions & 3 air wings.

Sounds like more than enough to me.  What I can't answer is how we got to where we are.  How did we end up with a bloat of generals and why hasn't the issue been tackled (its been brought up tons before)?

Want another head banger?  The USMC has about 29 battalions, that's active and reserve.  So we could have a general leading every infantry battalion we have.

Make that make sense.

I'm sure the same applies to the wing so lets say they have 20 equivalent formations.  We're up to 49 generals leading these relatively small units.

I say again.  MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

What should the new Commandant do?  Ruffle REAL FEATHERS and cut the number of general slots.

The equalizer equalizes...

Marine Corps Reddit continues to give on the Memes...

Wow. Is this real?  Seen some beefy Navy officers but never a Marine officer this...portly.  2nd MarDiv does this unit leader assessment program where they basically PT the dog shit outta officers coming into the division.  Wonder if he slid by?

Its a shame that someone this age has to work

Do you think he is safe to still be driving?

Look at this guy. Do you think it's by choice or by necessity that he has to climb into that rig everyday? Do you think if he had a choice that he would instead be at home relaxing and enjoying his remaining days? I don't know who the blame lies with. Is he doing it cause he's a baby Biden type dude and don't know when to leave the stage? Did some financial tragedy hit and he has to work? Could it be that he simply mismanaged his money and he's in dire straits? Don't know, but its still painful to watch.

American crosses line into N. Korea.

Either a returning spy, incredibly stupid or simply took the wrong turn and was caught up before realizing it. Stupid I buy. Accident I'm not sure but ok. Returning spy, just can't see it when easier ways to return are available. Need more info but I'm leaning to incredibily stupid right now.

Firepower Exercise organized by the Malaysian (TDM) army was held in Gemas, Malaysia

The UK has massive aspirations but little budget to back the plans. Now they want a Global Response Force...

The UK has billion dollar dreams on a McDonald's budget.

I know they want to be a major player on the world stage but the reality is a bit simpler in my opinion.

If the UK would simply optimize its Army & Air Force to fighting in Europe and the Med, with its Navy & parts of the Air Force doing SOME worldwide ops then I think things would balance nicely.

Of course that means that only light forces would be available for out of area operations, meaning the task would fall to their Royal Marines & Paras along with their aircraft carriers/amphibious ships but it would make more sense while the heavier main force Army units covered Europe.

Choices have to be made.  The UK needs to make them.  Doing it all just ain't possible anymore.

XM1304 Infantry Carrier Vehicle, Double V Hull A1-30 Millimeter (ICVVA1-30MM)

Is this part of dispersion? Individual vehicles operating on the battlefield?

I know individual warships are part of the dispersion concept. Disaggregate and reaggregate and all that jazz. But single vehicle operations? Is that part of that concept too? You have wide open plains with narrow tree lines with dirt roads dotting the landscape and someone thinks you can run an individual vehicle out there without it sticking out like a sore thumb? I don't get it and I wish SOMEONE would explain it to me. As things stand I see a bunch of guys throwing away their lives.

Long Range Unmanned Surface Vessel gets 8 Hero Loitering Drones...

The Riverines should have adopted this mission. Bigger better budget, direct funding from the Navy and no interservice duplication. Sidenote on this story and not a slam. They showed this to some under sec in the defense dept awhile ago I believe.

Great vid on drone swarms from 6 YEARS ago!

Our military and defense contractors innovate their asses off. Somewhere in the Pentagon all these great ideas get crushed. Then they're picked up by allies and enemies and our world is shook. We've got to do better!
