CDR Salamander understands that Africa will not be ignored.

More and more people are starting to realize that the Pacific isn't where the big fight will be. IT WILL BE IN AFRICA AFTER RESOURCES! Cdr Salamander doesn't go that far but he does point out the dangers that are faced by France (and by extension the West) in Africa. This is a must read.

Niger is gaining allies. Intervention by French and/or Canadian forces will be met with opposition...

Africa is boiling...

Things are starting to spin up in Africa and Europe is not ready for the fallout. Neither is the US. Unfortunately for our policy makers, Russia and to an extent China are in the cat bird's seat to capitalize on the new rush for minerals on that continent. All the planning for war in the Pacific and its gonna be a crazy, mindblowing and vicious fight in Africa. Maybe by proxy (mostly) but you will see all sides forces involved. Ironically the push for "green" tech and electric vehicles almost guarantee it. Video from Lord Bebo.

Everyone is preparing for war...

I just had to post the response that said that military exercises are NOT wargames. What a fucking idiot. Of course military exercises are wargames. They talk around it by saying it "promotes regional stability" and "assures allies" but make no mistake. These exercises are wargames. Don't believe me? Check out this tweet. I continue to marvel at the way some people twist themselves into knots to convince people that what they're seeing with their own eyes is a lie.

Confidence in the US military lowest in 2 decades....

It's gonna get worse. I seriously wonder if these boys are built to win. CORRECTION. If our policies are built to allow us to win versus endless, meaningless warfare. There is a HUGE difference.

An allegation that Jim Jordan is hiding the names of intel operatives that helped the Admin's misinformation campaign on social media

This is explosive. The idea that our intel agencies were part of this effort is stunning, if true. Definitely need more info but this Covid mess is a rabbit hole that will destroy public confidence once all the info comes out. Even more I do believe we're seeing the most corrupt govt in the history of our country with the assistance of large parts of our media/influencers and others. The guard rails failed.

Beijing is getting slammed with heavy floods...

KMEP 23.3: U.S. Marines conduct low-light battlesight zero

Note.  I finally figured out why I find it difficult to post alot of Marine Infantry doing their thing.  It's because at the end of the day they're just a glorified RAF Regiment guarding missile sites.  It's even worse than that though.  An assault force has transformed itself into a LIMITED missile force and refueling point for the actual warfighters in the other service.  Hard to take pride in that mission.  Tell me how I'm wrong.  I so want to be wrong!

Short, late Sunday rant...Activist piss me off...

This is a short, late Sunday rant.  Activist piss me off.  They always demand action but they always demand a certain type of action that is not feasible, won't solve the problem and demands that we all change our lives because of a minor segment of our population.

Take crime for example.

We know how to solve it.  Put criminals behind bars.  Keep them there.  Once released if they relapse then they go right back.

What do we instead?  Kid gloves for criminals, the majority of our population living in fear, the victims of crime being forgotten and general chaos everywhere.

Take the environment.

I still have doubts about climate change but if you want clean energy then we have that.  Nuclear.  Put plants all over the US. You want to reduce carbon?  That will do it.  You want to reduce gas consumption?  Why push all the way to electric when hybrid is here, now and ready to rock!  No new infrastructure and its readily available and affordable for all.

But no.  They want us to change our lives by picking at the edges which amounts to control and not real problem solving.  Stoves?  AC?  Other shit?  It's all bullshit and everyone knows it (or should).

The trans issue.

This one is easy.  If you're born a girl you play girls sports.  If you still have a dick then you use the men's bathrooms.  None of this "I identify as" so I can use the women's bathroom or play women's sports.

Everyone knows it but they wrap their heads into knots trying to justify craziness.  I don't get it but we're there.

Shit is simple.

So called big brains make simple shit hard.  Why?  I don't know but that appears to be the reality in big cities.

Note.  I won't even get started on the fentanyl issue.  That's a swamp that needs its own book but that's simple too.  The problem is that it will touch too many of our elite that like to "party" on the weekends.

The Polish KTO Rosomak is in Ukraine service? Didn't know. THIS SHOULD PROVE INTERESTING!

The Rosomak is in Ukrainian service? This should be interesting as FUCK! I find the Rosomak to be one of the more capable wheeled IFVs in service today and put it a few steps ahead of the Stryker. The Rosomak is thoroughly modern and its performance will be telling (we have to be careful though...Ukrainian tactics suck ass). The Swedish tank and IFV are also of interest but I haven't fully formulated my thinking on them yet. THOUGH I DO NOTE that the CV9040 has apparently performed well (despite a couple being captured...again...Ukrainian tactics suck...I'm not there so I don't know but to abandon fully mobile vehicles to the enemy seems weird at the very least).

Back when the Marine Corps was serious about amphibious assault...AAV mounted fuel air explosive for breaching obstacles...

Thanks to TD for reminding us all of this lost capability...

H.I. Sutton talks about the unexpected way Ukraine's naval drones are changing naval warfare. I say they're just long range guided torpedoes...

These naval drones are getting alot of airplay. Ok. I get that. But the reality is simple. These are just long range guided torpedoes. Honestly if they actually were subsurface they'd probably be 10 times more effective. Why someone hasn't simply built a big, fast, powerful torp and put a mast on it so it had E/O and maybe infrared for targeting...rigged it to run just under the surface of the water so only the mast was visible then you'd have something dangerous on your hands.

As things stand now?

Its just the fast boat problem on a bit of steroids.

Alert crew.  Proper heavy machineguns and maybe a few anti-tank missiles on ship, not to mention its 5in gun and this current threat can be taken care of rather easily.

Army plans to send tank over longest-ever modular pier during beach assault in Australia

 via Stars & Stripes

Two U.S. cargo ships waited patiently about 6 miles off northeastern Australia on Thursday, their crews preparing rapidly for a massive logistics drill that would mark several firsts for the U.S. Army.

Crews aboard the USNS Bob Hope and USNS Fisher were building an 1,800-foot-long modular pier to provide access to remote beaches and enable U.S. forces to land in enemy territory or locations without an available port, according to the lead planner for the project, Army Maj. Ryan Campbell, joint operations officer for 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary).

“In this scenario, we don’t have access to a port. So, essentially, we’re creating one,” he told Stars and Stripes on Thursday.

A useful wartime stratagem, similar over-the-shore logistics projects came in handy during humanitarian missions. The Army used modular piers following the 2010 earthquake in Haiti and again during Operation Deep Freeze 2019, when soldiers delivered supplies to the National Science Foundation at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, Campbell said.

Story here

Nature and the DoD hates a void.  The USMC created a void with Force Design 2030.  The defensive, one theater, one enemy, recon/counter recon mindset that has been adopted by Marine Corps leadership will have knock on/unintended consequences.

This is one of them.

The USMC never had to worry about its existence BEFORE this monstrosity.

Now?

I predict in 5 to 10 years without a course correction the US Army will occupy Navy amphibs, the USMC will be relegated to ONLY the Pacific (rightfully so since Berger and his idiots think that's the only region that exists) and we'll finally see the bean counters come after end strength and the Corps will be cut to 100K.

The good thing?

If the Marine Corps won't do it then the US Army will.

The Army's Navy can get alot of stuff ashore

Why won't the Marine Corps ask the Navy to buy some of the Army's boats? They can haul a shit load of gear and seem to meet all the requirements...

High-tech Russian mine known as PTKM-1R is definitely a problem...

I guess this is what happens when you have a force that is totally focused on offensive operations. We don't come up like this, we figure out how to defeat stuff like this. I guess that is one of the few "blessings" (I say that ironically and ashamedly) of this war. We get a chance to see what we will be used against our offensive forces...the Army, Navy and Air Force (the USMC is now TOTALLY DEFENSIVE).

Twitter is saying "ooh that's so hardcore" & "I'm so proud", but I guarantee that Soldier is saying THIS SHIT SUCKS!

Wait! WHAT! Storm Shadow missiles are being intercepted?

Interesting. I figured we weren't hearing about the Storm Shadow because they had a limited supply and were being quite careful in their usage. If they're being successfully interecepted that puts things in a brand new light.

NATO planners must be going ape shit. The most important part of Europe you've never heard about, the Suwalki Gap supposedly has Wagner personnel inside it...

If this is true then it explains why Poland seems to be going crazy right now. Everytime the wind blows it seems like they're putting their troops and border guards on alert. NATO planners must be a little pissed too. Never gave much credibility to Russia going after the Baltics but wow. Maybe a raid or two? Surely the Poles are doing more than just posturing and Ukraine is an intel agency play ground for everyone and their mothers so anything is possible.
