Milley had a point.

Note. One reader sent it to me and I sat on it and then another reader listed it as a must read. Here it is. Drink it in. Milley will go down as a failed chairman of the JCS. Having said that he spoke up on issues that he shouldn't have (and contacted a threat nation) and when he should have been shouting from the top of the rooftop he kept his mouth shut. Long story short? The pentagon saw the issues in Ukraine a long time ago.

Personal opinion. Zelensky doesn't have much longer as leader of Ukraine...

See the pic above? I can't get it out of my mind when I think about Ukraine.

Additionally I believe that its the perfect image of where Ukraine now stands.

Zelensky is alone, scowling at whoever is taking the pic while at a formal gathering in what appears to be Army fatigues.

The guy has misread the room and put his country in a terrible place.

He seems (and I don't know the guy so this is all speculation) as if he actually believes his early press releases.  He appears to believe the meme that Ukraine is fighting for democracy in the West ala the Spartans against Persia.

He drank his own Kool aide, like it and guzzled even more.

Ukraine can't afford to have him as their leader much longer.  He has rankled too many feathers.  The demands for more and more weapons, his failure on the battlefield and his lack of appreciation (which has been called out by several allies) means that they need a reset not only in military strategy but in civilian leadership too.

I don't think he'll be assasinated.  I don't think the Russians will kill him in some sort of strike.  I believe that the powers that be will put together some type of election that sees the people of Ukraine elect the next puppet ... this time someone more pleasant and that dresses in a suit and tie.

Interestingly enough, a change from Zelensky would open the door to some type of ceasefire at the very least if not an end to hostilities.

Americans! Does your govt care more about Maui or Ukraine?

Looks like Ukraine to me.

Stars & Stripes has one article with two different title grabs...

Are you a supporter of supplying Ukraine? Then this one is for you... Are you concerned that supplying Ukraine lavishly is jeopardizing our own security? Then this one is for you... Is this the secret sauce to keep from getting shadow banned and to get eyeballs on your stuff? Two different tweets to appeal to two different viewpoints? Seems a little suspect to me but it is 2023.

Blog announcement...

Hey all just a quick update on what's going on with this little piece of the internet...

1.  We're running with mandatory overtime.

2.  Still working thru this ankle thing and got defensive tactics coming up.  Gotta do alot more stretching on my off time.  DT sounds simple but I get achy as hell after each session.  Hours of banging just ain't my idea of fun over the course of three days.

3.  Google is doing some weird things and making moves that are basically FORCING me to find a new platform.  Trying to decide between making a full time move to X or that Stack thing.

4.  I've seen it before and let it go but I have to believe that I'm getting hit with a shadow ban.  Don't know if its from an entity or a troll that is hammering my stuff but its become obvious. With that said its also part of wanting to make the move.

5.  I refuse to give up the sharing of ideas so we're gonna re-orient and push forward.  What that looks like I don't know but suggestions on the way forward are welcome.

What are the outlines to achieve at least a ceasefire in Ukraine?

I want this war turned off.

If not for the sake of Ukrainian/Russian soldiers then for the greater good world wide.

I contend that this war has had unintended knock-on effects that are damaging to the world economy, the food security of possibly billions and is pushing to destabilize Europe.

So what would the outlines of a ceasefire look like.  Note I said ceasefire, not a peace treaty.  Baby steps for this emotionally charged issue.

Personally I think that the lines should be frozen.  Then a buffer zone established between the two sides monitored by a quartet that includes the US/EU, China, the UN (unaligned nations) and India/certain African states.

Why this grouping?  Because the sanctions have in essence made the whole world take sides.  With this grouping we have the most powerful nations on the planet (the US & China) participating, the EU which has aligned with the US and is nearest the fight involved, the UN with the unaligned nations (is there really such a thing with the way this thing has been setup) acting as a "neutral" force and India/certain African states to act as a counter to the probable view of Russia/China that the EU added to the US body gives it an unreasonable weight on the scales.

No troops on the ground but electronic monitoring by ground sensors and aerial vehicles (big and small uavs) would keep both sides honest.

The ceasefire would be the first step towards working towards a peace treaty that would finally end this insanity.

Note that any fantasy of Ukraine pushing Russia back is just that. At this point it would take the full involvement of NATO to retake all of Ukraine and even with that the body count would be horrendous and be a certain gift to the Chinese who would stroll into Taiwan with ease because the West, most especially the US would turn on foreign wars in a way that made the Vietnam malaise look like pleasant.

What say you.

Americans are starting to do the math...

Call it propaganda if you want but the facts are there for all to see. America first has been used as a buzz word for isolationism. It isn't. It's a clarion call to care about what's going on INSIDE America as much as globalist in our govt seem to care for what's going on OUTSIDE of America. Many of my foreign readers will balk at the idea of cutting support for overseas "causes" but the well is running dry and anger is increasing. If it isn't dealt with now the reaction will be much more severe later. Mark my words. If they don't get a handle on this now then you will see a turn inward that will leave the world in chaos, while we sort ourselves out.

It's damn near official. Ukraine's counter offensive has failed...

Can't put lipstick on this pig and make it beautiful (you can however make bacon if you're courageous enough to be diplomatic and let the UN finally earn its paycheck). This counter offensive has failed. Miserably. The saddest thing? All those soldiers gave their lives for people that really don't give a fuck (talking politicians, not the populace).

The Biden Admin snuck in ANOTHER 200 million for Ukraine...

Interesting. New York and other big cities are dealing with a migrant problem so bad that the schools are being stretched (lack teachers for the influx), public services are trashed and the police are getting slammed with another mini-crime wave --- YET --- despite New York's Mayor screaming for more money its being sent overseas. Make this make sense. We won't even get into the madness that is San Francisco and other Western cities but we do have our empire to maintain. This is how the Romans ended in failure. So focused on the outside that they couldn't see the building anger from within. The current greedy bastards in Washington that I'm convinced are ALL corrupt (yeah both Republicans and Democrats) will lose it all just to line their pockets. I wonder where they plan to run to? Jan 6 will look like a summer's breeze compared to the drama they're about to unleash (not calling for it just believe its coming). Back on task. More Money For Ukraine....INSANITY!!!

Sidenote.  Spare me the Lord Bebo hate.  He's posting what the Mainstream Media will not.  Save your hate for the govt for sending the aid or hate the govt cause they semi followed the law and put out a press release on it.

Couldn't find a fitness, thick fit or other chic to post...I'll do better tomorrow just cause it pisses some of you off.

Oryx might not be the "end all be all" for documenting equipment losses...

Thanks to Duke 7 for the link! I always suspected that his numbers were off. Additionally I found it amazing that anyone could properly document losses based on what we're seeing open source. Too much duplication, confusion etc...for anyone to actually put out good numbers. Only the Russians, Ukrainians and maybe a few intel agencies know what's really going on and they're playing those numbers to the public. We have to trust our sense of what we're seeing on the battlefield to properly assess things.

The obvious is becoming mainstream (obvious to this blog that is)...Politicians preparing for counteroffensive next spring...

Its been obvious FOREVER that this counteroffensive had failed. Why its been so hard for so many to accept that reality is beyond me but EVERYONE could see it if they were honest with themselves. Now? Now they're prepping the sheeple for the fact that the counteroffensive has failed and that they'll have to try again next spring. The worse thing? I don't think the allies have anything left in the cabinet to give. Production will have to be massively ramped up and prayers sent to Jesus that nothing else kicks off in the world or Ukraine and the West is screwed.

PLA Infantry Fighting Vehicle Guide

Is it just me or does it seem like we're all over Russian gear and know its in's and out's strength's and weaknesses but when it comes to Chinese kit we're lost in the sauce? We keeping hearing all these generals talking about China being the pacing threat but the literature on their stuff is really lacking.

Play in the corners...

Note.  I popped out the article so it would be easier for ya'll to read.  Don't know if it worked or not but make the effort.  Great lesson here for your little ones.

When he was 14, Wayne Gretzky moved from his small hometown to play in a more competitive hockey league in Toronto. He was undersized and during the first practice, he got pushed around.
After practice, his coach pulled him aside. “When you go home tonight,” the coach said, “the Toronto Maple Leafs are playing the Philadelphia Flyers—watch Bobby Clarke play.” Bobby Clarke was an undersized player on the Flyers who went on to be inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame. “He's not very big,” Gretzky’s coach told him, “but he's very smart.” “And I studied him and I studied him and I studied him,” Gretzky said. “I would take out a piece of paper and draw a rink and then without looking at the paper, I’d watch the hockey game on TV, and I would take my pen and I’d follow the puck.”
When Clarke got off the ice, Gretzky would look down at the paper and look for patterns. He began to notice two things. First, that Clarke “played the game mostly out of the corners.” Second, that players almost never went behind the net. So, Gretzky said, “I started playing out of the corner and from behind the net…I started using the net as a decoy. Consequently, I wasn’t standing in front of the net, getting knocked over, and being on my keister the whole time.”
Takeaway 1: In his books and on his podcast, Tim Ferriss talks about the question he likes to ask when setting out to learn a new skill: “Who is good at this despite being poorly built for it?” The idea is to study those, like Bobby Clarke, who found ways to excel even without the prototypical characteristics or advantages. Then you yourself can use what you learned and, like Gretzky, excel even without the prototypical characteristics of advantages.
Takeaway 2: Early in his career, in his lab, the neuroscientist Andrew Huberman kept a list of the scientists he loved and admired. “I would read that list over and over,” he said, “I didn’t realize it at the time, but this is what is called introjection.” In psychology, "introjection" is the process of absorbing the qualities and behaviors of others.
If you regularly listen to so-and-so’s podcast, Huberman explains, “the nervous system begins to ask questions like, what would so-and-so do? That’s a very real thing, and we’re not always consciously aware of it.”
As he regularly watched and doodled the play of Bobby Clarke, Gretzky introjected Clarke’s style, stopped spending so much time on keister, as he put it, and consequently, went on to set 61 NHL records—many of which he still holds—including most career regular-season goals (894), assists (1,963), and points (2,857). - - - “I started playing out of the corner and from behind the net because nobody had ever done that before…and by the time they sort of kind of figured it out, I’d retired.” — Wayne Gretzky

Something is going on with Ukrainian refugees wearing out their welcome

I've been seeing a steady drumbeat of Ukrainian refugees pushing back on the idea that they're rich and fled the war zone instead of helping to defend their country. It's mostly aimed at males and I haven't seen any of them pushback on the meme. Ukrainian women however ARE trying to pushback on it. I don't know cause I'm not there but apparently its big in Poland, Germany, Italy and Spain. This is a "minor" issue but one that bears watching. Zelensky needs to alter his public relations and start sounding alot more grateful for the support he's getting. As things stand now, people are really tired of demands for more, more and more!
