Peter Layton, a retired Australian air force officer and visiting fellow at Brisbane’s Griffith Asia Institute, said the latest image confirmed the J-36’s three weapons bays – one large and two smaller – and the dorsal intake for the third engine. He added that the third engine was “probably the same as the other two rather than some exotic engine such as ramjet”. That suggests it is there to provide the additional thrust needed for cruising at supersonic speeds – something two engines alone probably cannot achieve, according to Layton.“I think it confirms the growing view that the J-36 is [a] large, long-range strike aircraft,” said Layton, who is also an associate fellow at Britain’s Royal United Services Institute. He added that the jet had an “innovative design with good stealth characteristics” and appeared more like a regional bomber.Brendan Mulvaney, director of the US Air Force’s China Aerospace Studies Institute, agreed that it resembled an attack or bomber aircraft design. “But in the future, fighters might just turn out to be ‘missile trucks’ anyway, so perhaps it will fill the role of a stealth platform that can deliver both air-to-air and air-to-ground munitions,” he said. Other analysts believe the J-36 is designed for both.
Interesting.
I can't get a good read on the size of this beast but I'm thinking its sorta like the F-111 mixed with A-5 Vigilante.
Regardless I can't lie. I like it. To be honest it looks like the Chinese have developed a stealthy version of the B-1R concept. A high speed missile truck that can swap out payloads to turn it from the anti-air mission back into the surface attack role (note I said surface attack meaning ground targets and naval shipping if they have the electronics right).
One other thing.
This beast has first strike capability written all over it. Mix long range anti-surface weapons with high speed stealth and it can hit our planes while they're sitting on the ground. In another scenario they can fly out past the first island chain to conduct first strikes against our carriers & amphibs.
I like this thing. Having said that we need to start working on ways to KILL IT!
FAFO...the Marines will treat this as a combat mission unlike the National Guard.PRESS RELEASE: Approximately 700 Marines with 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division will seamlessly integrate with the Title 10 forces under Task Force 51 in the Los Angeles Area. @DODResponse @1stMEF @DeptofDefense @USArmyNorth

Note. If you were attentive then you noticed that I didn't mention the Ukrainian drone strikes. Why? Because I've been paying attention to the fighting on the ground and refused to buy into "made for hollywood" attention grabbing headlines.

On June 8, Russian troops, during an offensive led by the 90th Tank Division as part of the Center group, broke through the western border of the Donetsk region and continued to advance to the west, writes the American expert magazine Military Watch Magazine.
This offensive followed significant breakthroughs by Russian units on the fronts in the northern part of Sumy region and in Donetsk. Entering the Dnipropetrovsk region, a strategically important region that borders the territories of Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye, could be a turning point in the conflict. This area with a low population density remains an important center of resource extraction and logistics.
What has me puzzled is that the Russian members of this blog family haven't said a thing about the advances...slow and steady at first, and now almost a recognizable armored/mech assault.
I have another theory.
Remember me posting a warning written by someone smarter than me that told the West to be alert to a possible Ukrainian collapse?
I think we're inching to that point.
Which leads me to my suspicions.
I think the UK and France are basically sabotaging Trump's attempt at a peace between Russia and Ukraine.
Why?
I'm not sure. Could they possibly want a wider war that would involve NATO? Would they commit troops if Ukraine did collapse? I know that Poland would attempt to setup a buffer zone (in name only...they want lost territory).
We're living in the land of mirrors. No info from the main stream media is to be trusted.

Evidence Suggests LA “Riots” Over ICE Raids Could Be Government‑Funded https://t.co/J9ENBcE9Fj
PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. – By direction of Secretary of Defense and in coordination with U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), approximately 2,000 California Army National Guard soldiers have been placed under federal command and control in a Title 10 status to support the protection of federal personnel and federal property in the greater Los Angeles area.
As USNORTHCOM’s land component command, U.S. Army North stood up Task Force 51, with a two-star general, as the ground command and control element over the Title 10 forces. At this time, there are approximately 300 members of the California Army National Guard’s 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team deployed at the following locations in the greater Los Angeles area: Los Angeles, Paramount, and Compton, California.
Additionally, approximately 500 Marines from 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines at Twentynine Palms, California, are in a prepared to deploy status should they be necessary to augment and support the DoD’s protection of federal property and personnel efforts.
USNORTHCOM will provide more information as units are identified and deployed.

Someone in the financial crimes division of the FBI or Secret Service needs to follow the money on these "protests". I don't think they're organic. I believed they're organized with some SERIOUS financial backing. TRACK IT DOWN!NOW: Rioters set fire to self-driving Waymo car after tagging it with anti-ICE graffiti in LA.

The Israeli army is facing growing logistical and mechanical challenges amid the prolonged war in Gaza, with mounting technical failures affecting its tanks, armored vehicles, and weapons, according to Israeli media reports on Friday, Anadolu reports.
The daily Maariv quoted soldiers, company and battalion commanders, and senior officers as saying that military units operating in Gaza are increasingly hampered by worn-out equipment and a lack of spare parts.
“The 7th Armored Brigade reported Thursday serious difficulties in securing tank spare parts,” Maariv reported. “Key components like engines, tracks, and control systems are being depleted from the army’s stocks, while other parts are simply unavailable.”
A senior officer from the brigade, who was not named, told the daily: “We have been in a state of war for nearly two years in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, and now again in Gaza. The vehicles are deteriorating rapidly, constantly moving from one mission to another.”
“No one was prepared for the possibility of such a long war. Every component has a lifespan, and we are reaching those limits,” he added.
The issue, Maariv noted, is not isolated to the 7th Brigade but affects all regular army units, including armored, artillery, and infantry divisions.
I was worried about this.
What has me spinning is that the issues facing Israel aren't being widely reported. I've been concerned about their economy and have been more than irked by the number of nations that are lining up to sanction them (well...kinda irked...sanctions have been so over used that they no longer make sense anymore), but to add to the that issue you now have material issues with the IDF?
The war hawks say to keep pushing so that Hamas doesn't rebuild. I think that a pause is needed so the IDF can rebuild...along with their economy and to give their conscription force a break.
Peace, ie. a pause in fighting is not a bad thing.
