The Pentagon pauses arms shipments to Ukraine. Trump turns them back on. Are we getting ready for China or what? What happened to AMERICA FIRST!

The Trump administration has resumed sending some weapons to Ukraine, a week after the Pentagon had directed that some deliveries be paused, U.S. officials said Wednesday.

The weapons heading into Ukraine include 155mm munitions and precision-guided rockets known as GMLRS, two officials told The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity to provide details that had not been announced publicly. It’s unclear exactly when the weapons started moving.

Editor's note.  Don't believe the above.  The Trump administration goes after leakers with a vengeance.  If you don't believe this was an "allowed" and "encouraged" leak to chill out the MAGA crowd then you're smoking crack.

My suspicion?  The real weapons being sent include those that are necessary to fight China in the NEAR future.  The article continues...

 Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth directed the pause on some shipments last week to allow the Pentagon to assess its weapons stockpiles, in a move that caught the White House by surprise.

Affected were Patriot missiles, the precision-guided GMLRS, Hellfire missiles, Howitzer rounds and more, taking not only Ukrainian officials and other allies by surprise but also U.S. lawmakers and other parts of the Trump administration, including the State Department.

Editor's note.  Those taken by surprise are the "forever war goons" that pop woodies when thinking about sending young men to war.  Fuck them forever but what I don't understand is how these people hold sway in the Trump administration!

 Trump has privately expressed frustration with Pentagon officials for announcing the pause — a move that he felt wasn’t properly coordinated with the White House, according to three people familiar with the matter.

Editor's note.  Trump is lying his ass off.  No disrespect to the current SecDef but that dude ain't taking a shit without asking permission first.  Trump is catching fire from his base and he's deflecting it (in a weird ass way) to his SecDef.

If I was in that position and got backdoored like this I would resign.  If he does it on something this simple...on a move that reflects his STATED goals and VALUES, then bigger shit would have me in jail.  Fuck that.  Grab the life raft before the ship sinks.

Alot of things are ugly but understandable in war. Putting a guy on the lines that can barely walk? This is the Russian example but we've seen it on the Ukrainian side too (remember the mentally deficient man-child). Trump is right but talking about the wrong war. Russian and Ukraine don't know what the fuck they're doing.

USAF pounces after the B-2's performance against Iran...says they need 50 more B-21's...

The head of STRATCOM stated that 145 B-21s would need to be fielded in order to satisfy the needs of the service.

The significance of the US Air Force’s bomber fleet was most recently exemplified in the Operation Midnight Hammer airstrikes that targeted Iran’s top three nuclear facilities. While the B-2’s successful bombing operation at least impaired Tehran’s ability to ramp up uranium production anytime soon, it also showcased the small fleet size of one of the service’s top-tier bombing platforms. Only 19 “Spirit” stealth bombers are currently in service today. This shockingly small fleet size is expected to be complemented down the line with the future B-21 “Raider” series. The Northrop Grumman strategic bomber is currently under development for the Air Force and will host all the latest and greatest technologies when introduced as the military’s first sixth-generation aircraft of its kind.

Call them chairborne all you want, the USAF brass know how to play the Pentagon game.

What makes them particularly vicious?

They play the joint game only when needed.  Other than that they push the narrative (similar to the Marine Corps) that they can do it all solo.  But its more than just talk.  If you pay attention to some of the language from USAF leadership they're taking it to the budget fight and calling for other services budgets to be reduced so theirs can be increased to satisfy the needs of the future fight.

Personally I always viewed the USAF as something other.  Yeah the pilots were warfighters.  USAF Special Ops?  Ditto.  Other than that the only guys I could point to were the dudes in Security Forces and the ParaRescue bubbas.

Stupid thinking on my part.

Their team doing the budget fights can be included in that too.  The problem for the rest of the Pentagon?  They're subtle but effective.  With an administration AND A PUBLIC that is tired of lingering small wars they'll probably win more than they lose in the next few years too.

My prediction?

The Army will hang on by a thread.  The Marine Corps is too small to be noticed.  Special Ops are in a different class so they don't have any worries.

Nah bro.  Its the Navy that's gonna get screwed big time by the flyboys.  Hope God's with them...and the US if they're all wrong...which I suspect.

Blast from the past. Commander Lists Needs for Future Marine Weapons circa 1997

The Marine Corps needs new weapons and equipment despite its high state of combat readiness, according to the senior Marine in the Pacific.

"Our trucks, amphibious vehicles and aircraft are the same ones we used in Desert Storm," said Lt. Gen. Jefferson Howell Jr., commanding officer of Marine Corps Forces Pacific. "We need to replace them, because it takes more and more man-hours to keep them up."

While Howell said the Marines would be happy for now with newer versions of the same equipment, they ultimately need different weapon systems that take advantage of technological advancements. At the top of his shopping list is the V-22 Osprey, a fixed-wing, tilt-rotor aircraft.

"The V-22 will revolutionize maneuver warfare," he said. "When you think about a machine that can carry two dozen combat Marines 500 miles at 300 knots airspeed, land vertically and scoot back out of there, it's remarkable." The Marines project the Osprey to replace Vietnam-era CH-46 helicopters, Howell said.

A new advanced amphibious assault vehicle developed by the Marines will replace aging vehicles that can achieve only 5-8 knots in the water and 25 knots on land. The new vehicle, Howell said, will nearly double the water and land speeds, enabling it to keep up with air-cushioned landing craft and, on ground, the powerful M-1A1 tanks.

Besides landing craft, Howell said, the Marines need more amphibious ships to move troops, their weapons and equipment to war zones. "During the World War II battle of Okinawa 1,300 U.S. ships surrounded the island. Of those, 365 were amphibious ships," the general noted. "Right now, there are only 37 amphibious ships in the entire Navy. We cannot be a viable naval force unless we have enough 'amphibs' to carry our Marines and provide presence."

Howell said he also wants to reconfigure and upgrade Marine tactical air. "For every different kind of airplane, we have to train our Marines at different schools," he said. The Marines currently fly F-18 Hornets, AV-8B II Harriers and EA-6B Prowlers. "If we could replace the Hornet and Harrier with something that could do both of their jobs, we'd have a winner," Howell said. "That's why we want to go with the Joint Strike Fighter. It will really enhance our ability."

Training Marines on one aircraft system instead of two would save time and money, as would replacing CH-46s with V-22s, then replacing older model HH-53 helicopters with newer models with heavier lift capabilities, Howell said. "And someday," he added, "we'd like a smaller variant of the V-22 to replace our smaller tactical and utility helicopters." Finally, he said, the Corps needs newer models of the reliable but aging KC-130 air refueling tanker.

As for the Marines' basic weapons, rifles and sidearms, Howell said he doesn't see any immediate need for replacements. "We're always looking at the latest developments, where maybe we could get a lighter weapon that's more lethal and more accurate," he said. "But the M-16 [rifle] and 9 mm [pistol] are good, reliable weapons."

This look back at the past shows only one thing.

The Marine Corps has been stuck in a rut for a long time.  Solutions provided are half baked at best and at worst cost inefficient/performance insufficient. 

Which leads to Force Design 2030.

Its not an upgrade of Marine Corps capabilities.

Its a planned downgrade coupled with mission abandonment.

Russia has an army of "Space Stalkers" ready to ambush our sats...

While Putin might not attack US or NATO satellites, he most certainly is quietly preparing the battlefield for whenever he may want to.

A co-orbital satellite is a nasty little machine. Nicknamed “Space Stalkers” (with good reason), a co-orbital satellite is tiny and fast. It closely follows sensitive satellites belonging to other countries, such as the United States, with intent to damage or destroy those systems when commanded to by the ground operators of the Space Stalkers. 

These systems are dual-use in nature. During peacetime, they can be classified as “repair” satellites or simply surveillance satellites. In wartime, though, these co-orbital systems can do extreme amounts of damage.

One system in particular is giving the strategic planners at the Pentagon a high degree of indigestion. That’s Russia’s newest satellite in its low-Earth orbit (LEO) Cosmos series, which is now orbiting dangerously near a covert US government satellite. As a result, the US defense community fears that the Russians are preparing to use this Cosmos co-orbital Space Stalker in what would amount to a space “Pearl Harbor.”

Ok.  This is crazy.  I can only hope that with awareness we're developing countermeasures.  Additionally I hope that we have our own systems capable of taking out threat or recon systems.

Lastly it makes me wonder.  The USAF canceled the E-7 Wedgetail in favor of space based systems.  I'm assuming they did this with knowledge of this threat.

Would kinda suck if we were engaged in a war with China and suddenly every communications, recon and intel sat were knocked off line.
