Aftermath of the rescue op...stuck C-130s at a makeshift airfield that were destroyed since they couldn't be removed

Two stuck C-130's at a makeshift airfield? Tell me the Rangers were there without saying it out loud. Wonder who else went. Delta/ST-6? One of those outfits most definitely. MARSOC? Not sure at all. Maybe if the fight got big enough (which is why I want a good definition of a "big" firefight..especially for these groups). The outlier for me are the Air Force units. Red Horse dudes aren't considered Special Ops but this is supposed to be their thing. Air Force Security Forces to guard the airfield? Maybe but I doubt it. They'd just use what's left of the Special Ops dudes to do that. Combat Controllers were certainly there. Air Force Special Recon? I think so.  Combat Weather?  Only if they needed more shooters and they're Special Ops qualified.

They've come a long way from the disaster in the desert so many many years ago.

Well done.

But I still want details!

How do you define a "heavy" firefight?

A modern day squad can put down some impressive fire. At what point does it become a "heavy" firefight. Asking cause I REALLY DON'T KNOW!

Now reports are that he made it out and we have our guy. Citizen journalism is far from perfect. Waiting for the "legacy" media to confirm

OK the second crewmember was given shelter by "allied" Iranians. Vicious clashes between TRAP/CSAR personnel and IRGC forces

Every villager needs to be given asylum. They saved one of ours, we save them. It's only proper. Oh and we need to get this over with. Actually putting hands on our people and getting this war done.

What is the deal with us not having found our second aviator???

You read the title so you know the question.

I'm a layman so I don't know but I thought those bubbas had transponders or whatever you call the apple device that lets you track your shit and sat phones so they could be found if shot down and at least talk to HQ.

Additionally we have so many assets in the area that I just can't wrap my brain around the idea that we don't where he/she is.

Could a faction have captured him?  Even if that is the sad possibility we have damn near a Ranger Battalion in the region along with Delta or Seal Team 6 and around 5K Marines that can perform perimeter security if captured.

If they died during ejection then we should have the body.

I just don't get this.

If this joker is deep in Iran having to escape and evade then God bless him.  That's got to be a rough ride.

Either way I'm kinda shocked we haven't yanked him back yet.

Japanese are working out their brand new AMVs

We've used up so much of warstock on Iran that NOW is the time for China to attack Taiwan (if I were them)

This is kinda a good news bad news story in my view. First it shows just how low a stock pile we had and how much we drain ourselves fighting these minor wars (no war is minor but you get the idea). We've SUPPOSEDLY been gearing up to fight China (which is foolish on its face....we have too many obligations as it is we've got to prioritize) but Ukraine has been milking us dry, the European allies in the support of Ukraine have been milking us dry and the Oct 7th war that Israel fought sunk us to horrible levels.

Now you add Iran to the mix and we're in a serious hurt locker.  There is a reason why Trump is pushing for a huge defense budget plus up.

The pantry is bare, and we will only have Japan & Australia in a fight against China.

We're gonna have to rethink our drink on this one.  There is only one nation that can help us reach our goals in a timely manner.  Correction there are only TWO nations that can help us reach our goals quickly.

S. Korea and Turkey.

Turkey is gonna be problematic because of our activities in the Middle East.  I don't think they're gonna be in the mood to help.

S. Korea could help us across the board from munitions to warships but for some reason the Pentagon has a European bent.  S. Korea is in my opinion the world leader in missile tech and they can resupply other munitions quickly.  They have a strong shipbuilding industry and could help reinvigorate our fleet quickly.

We have options but we need to do it NOW!~

2nd crewmember of the F-15 successfully rescued!

GREAT NEWS! Good job boys!

The fucking enemy gets a vote. F-15 shot down/search and rescue ops underway...

This sucks but is part of the thing. Iran is big. You're talking about a possible LONG RANGE TRAP MISSION. And that mission is gonna be over territory that shot down an F-15 so you know our V-22s/CH-53s/CH-47s are vulnerable as hell. Additionally we're down tankers and since we don't want our aircrew slaughtered by savages or captured and paraded on YouTube/Tik-Tok/Instagram that means (at least in my mind) every other aerial operation is on pause to support this effort. I'm assuming that we have every recon asset circling the downed airplane which make me wonder if they're even putting together a package to track our people if they were captured and to go rescue them.

The biggest WTF in my mind is that it was claimed we had air superiority so why are our crews flying low enough to get hit? What is going on with our countermeasures? If Iran can knock down our planes after we've destroyed our air force then what the fuck is going on?

The Chinese are using their robot dogs as part of squad attacks in urban territory. Meanwhile we're focused on robotic mules & tank replacements. Our infantry is gonna be in trouble

Tell me watching this short vid doesn't chill your bones a bit. Even worse? We don't have anything close to equivalent. We're focusing on robotic mules as an infantry aid. They're focusing on robotic dogs that can act as point me in urban and I imagine jungle terrain. The previous video showed swarming attacks but give every Chinese squad one of the robot dogs and unless we kill it at distance we're in for a rough ride.

China's latest propaganda video of its future invasion of Taiwan is all robots

Keep hearing about peace talks but the buildup of ground forces continues...supposedly will be complete next week

Hmmm.

So the second MEU should be arriving any day now.  The 82nd Division Ready Brigade (do they still call it that) can arrive in 18hrs...probably less since the warning order has already been issued and they're primed to go.

SOCOM is probably already doing their thing or itching to do so which means that they're making this an all light infantry affair (well sorta light infantry....the 82nd once they do their complete mobilization will have more ground combat power than an equivalent Marine Unit).

Since this is gonna be all light fighters I have to wonder why the 101st wasn't deployed.  They have the greatest mobility of any Army division.  Tactically extremely mobile.  Strategically not so much.  They're hard to move (they really need to lobby for a fast transport ship to move their helicopters).

My thinking?

Raids to get the uranium.

Assaults to take a couple of islands.

Once that's completed victory will be declared, Iran will be left to rebuild and we'll go into the mode of conducting punitive strikes against any leader/scientist that poses a threat.

Yeah they got an E-3

Reports have been flooding in but I had to see it with my own eyes to believe it. They nailed one. They got an E-3. Possibly one of our most important assets considering the missile threat we're seeing. On this one I pat myself on the back. I always thought that stationing our people in gear in theater at static bases was a foolish idea. I considered it the same as the Romans stationing their legions in foreign lands in an attempt to keep the barbarians at bay. For ground forces I always thought it would lead to Ft Apache type situations across a large area. What I don't understand is if we can station B-2s, B-1s, and B-52s in Europe then why can't we set up an air bridge so that we can protect our Refuelers and AWACS. Drones don't worry me. They're the modern IED. We can handle drones if we get serious. It's the ballistic missiles that are the big bad.
