The Netherlands is retiring its fleet of Kodiak Combat Engineering Vehicles. They state they're no longer suitable for assigned tasks & technical problems...
Hmm. Which is it? No other country has announced any issues with this vehicle and no other country has stated its no longer capable of Combat Engineering Tasks. Wonder what the real answer is. I'm betting they'll be missed just like the Marines will miss tanks AND tracks on its amphibious vehicle.🇳🇱 The Netherlands has decided that it will retire its fleet of Kodiak Combat Engineering Vehicles (CEV), as they have been deemed to no longer be suited for the combat engineering task and are plagued with technical problems limiting availability. Initially a midlife update for the vehicles was proposed, but this was deemed to not be worth the effort, and a new CEV is to be procured instead, which is equipped specifically for the obstacle breaching role. https://t.co/iqhpaV14zV

US Army is now buying unmanned resupply boats
Hmm. So everyone is cross platforming except the US Army's Logistics Corps. Everyone depends on the Army for Theater Logistics. Anyone remember the days when the USAF guaranteed air supremacy? That died a quiet painful death. How long before reality forces the Army into buying fighters to defend its ground forces and attack enemy ground forces? The U.S. Army plans to procure up to 100 unmanned surface vehicles to transport military cargo and support operations in the Pacific region.Major General Gavin Gardner, commander of the 8th Logistics Command, announced these plans back in June 2026. https://t.co/ueD28exviv

The Chinese have studied, figured out and have counters to the MLR
A much more detailed study of the new USMC strategy appeared in early 2025 in the naval magazine Modern Ships This Chinese assessment noted with considerable alarm that the USMC was experimenting with unmanned surface vessels capable of firing the stealthy LRASM anti-ship cruise missile and that these units could alternatively serve as forward scouts, fixing targets for long-range U.S. military fires.
Still, this analysis underlines some weaknesses of the USMC strategy, including the range limitations of related sensors and drones, and even characterized the air-defense capabilities of the USMC as “precarious.” Another study in this same magazine had earlier drawn attention to the logistics quandaries raised by the new strategy.
Read the whole thing but the Chinese have simply outlined the same issues that US based experts have stated.
The good? Unmanned vessels capable of firing long range antiship missiles. The same units could serve as scouts.
The bad? A TOTAL LACK OF DENSITY! The number of ships will be so limited that destroying them even in piecemeal fashion will be relatively easy for screening long range UAVs equipped with air to surface missiles. I DO NOT BELIEVE that even in their destruction that they've served their purpose. Losing equipment to enemy long range aircraft does nothing to inform you about the position of the enemy fleet!~
The good? Ain't no more good according to the Chinese.
The bad? Limited sensor range. The GAT/OR radar does nothing to increase our situational awareness and while I'm far from an expert on radars in general and this system in particular I do note that like other radars its big, bulky and as the war in Iran has shown us vulnerable to enemy action. Even a minor power was able to destroy several US Army radars with much greater range and protection than an MLR has.
Logistics? To my knowledge no solution to supplying the MLR in a contested area has been found. Unmanned helicopters (the UH-60 version comes to mind) and boats are tossed around but have yet to enter service. If the USMC puts an MLR in harms way and the Chinese engage in the grey zone activity that I believe they will then the MLR will have to survive on what they brought with them. If the Chinese are as aggressive as I believe they will be diplomatically then I expect that a few our allies will be bullied into submission and won't help even in this non-hostile endeavor.
Anti-Air? The lack of anti-air systems that the USMC is employing with the MLR makes me wonder who came up with this and what street drug they were smoking. Not only are the systems short ranged but the lack of magazine depth that they will have is shocking. Cannon and Stinger missile based anti-air? A modest electronic warfare setup? Not only is it unimpressive but its downright insulting to the Marines on the ground.
Against a drone swarm they MIGHT have enough anti-air for on medium to large engagement. Anything after that and they're pussy on a plate...just waiting to get fucked.
The MLR is a bad idea.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
The MLR is designed to die in place. It's real purpose is to rally the American people to engage in a war with China over a nation (Taiwan) that they really don't care about.
The American people will care about 2000 Marines being killed, injured or captured by the Chinese though.

Where are ya'll at in the current dust up with Ukraine?
In April of this year, the U.S. Army conducted an exercise in Germany called Joint Resolve, inviting Ukrainian drone units to participate. At the height of discussions in the Oval Office about possible American amphibious landings on the Iranian coast, U.S. generals wanted to test whether their best ground combat division could withstand an enemy highly skilled in modern drone warfare. And during those exercises in Germany, an ordinary Ukrainian FPV drone unit reportedly completely wiped out the U.S. Army's 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division, approximately 3,500 soldiers from Fort Hood, Texas, in the simulated battle. Thanks to Ukraine, American generals were able to see firsthand that a landing operation in Iran could result in devastating casualties among American troops. When that orange bastard claims that “Ukraine has given America nothing,” he ignores something absolutely priceless that Ukraine has given the United States: the opportunity to avoid yet another strategic catastrophe into which that orange head was pushing the country. There is an old saying: If you knew where you were going to fall, you would spread some straw to soften the landing. Well, the Ukrainians provided that straw for the Americans. Only an idiot like Trump could believe that his friend Vladimir, who supposedly provides Iran with only “a little help,” would not send several experienced Russian drone crews to Iran to help destroy American forces. Ukraine may have saved the lives of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of American soldiers. Because Ukraine did not keep the experience it had gained through blood and sacrifice to itself. Instead, it shared that knowledge with the Americans, even as Trump's decisions betrayed Ukraine. That experience was purchased with Ukrainian blood. And Ukraine shared it with an ally that should never have turned its back on us.

Oh, I’m fucking angry today. And you better brace yourselves. I haven’t slept for 24 hours. For an entire fucking day, Russia has been pounding Kyiv with Geran attack drones. Wave after wave. Relentlessly. TWENTY-FOUR HOURS. And while we’re living through this nightmare, Donald Trump is reportedly complaining: “We gave Ukraine enormous amounts of money. And all we got in return was high diesel prices.” ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! We’re being bombed. We’re losing sleep, electricity, homes and lives. And you’re talking about DIESEL PRICES?! Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence (HUR) has released new estimates of Russia’s military stockpiles ahead of winter. 🚨 Russia is reportedly producing more than 200 missiles every month, including approximately 110 ballistic missiles. Russia’s estimated arsenal includes: 🔴 6,200 Shahed-type attack drones in reserve. 🔴 115 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, with another 65 produced monthly. 🔴 More than 450 Kalibr cruise missiles. 🔴 Up to 400 RM-48U missiles. 🔴 More than 600 Oniks missiles. 🔴 More than 120 Zircon missiles. 🔴 Kh-101 production reportedly exceeds 80 missiles per month. Do you understand what these numbers mean? They mean more nights like this. More Ukrainian children sleeping in shelters. More families living without electricity or heating. More civilians killed while the world debates the price of fuel. Russia is stockpiling weapons ahead of winter. We are preparing to survive another winter of Russian attacks. And instead of talking about diesel prices, perhaps it’s time to talk about stopping the country that’s bombing us. UKRAINIANS ARE NOT THE PRICE YOU PAY FOR YOUR POLITICAL GAMES. We are human beings. And we have the right to live. #Ukraine #Kyiv #RussiaUkraineWar #StandWithUkraine #AirDefense #RussianWarCrimes

Have you heard the latest fear tactic? Russia is supposedly about to attack a US sat...
🇷🇺🇫🇮 ANTI-SATELLITE SPACE WARS: Russian military satellite KOSMOS 2612 is now 135 meters (445 feet) from ICEYE-X36 spy satellite that provides tracking data to Ukraine. If it keeps maneuvering the same way, it will close to 45 meters (145 feet) on Monday, tomorrow. -> First aggressive satellite encounter in history! Will the Russian anti-satellite weapon hit the Finnish spy satellite with a laser to burn its camera, use electronic warfare, or just ram it? Space war about to start? PS: You can see how close it is on the video, first time in history a satellite might attack another one. https://t.co/NC6w3IxtDg

Finally someone in this administration is ready to putting Barking Dawg Zelensky back in his kennel...
Word to the wise. Don't talk shit in public and then beg for money in private. As far as I'm concerned after this idiocy the most corrupt country in Europe can get its monetary and military needs elsewhere. It appears he has a ton of support in Europe. Let Europe deal with his begging, ungrateful ass.🚨 SCOTT BESSENT JUST PUT ZELENSKY IN HIS PLACE. Zelensky went on national TV and blamed America for limits on Starshield connectivity. He said the limits came from a "message from American government." Bessent wasn't having it: "I think it is very reckless for President Zelensky to make such a charge." He added a warning: "Zelensky should be very careful about making statements like this that aren't true." When Zelensky was asked whether Trump or Musk made the call, he admitted he didn't know. Then he claimed it was "both" anyway. He attacks America in public, then turns around and asks for more of our money. It's time to stop writing blank checks. https://t.co/jSgibs2URK

Four dead, dozens wounded in CFB Wainwright fire
Thanks to Canuck Fighter for the link!
via CTVNews.ca
Prime Minister Mark Carney says four service members died in Saturday’s fire and explosion at CFB Wainwright.
“Yesterday afternoon, a violent, fast-moving fire swept through a Canadian Armed Forces base in Wainwright, Alberta,” he told reporters on Sunday. “What followed was one of the worst tragedies for the forces in Canadian soil in peace time.”
The Canadian Armed Forces said the fire broke out in a training area at approximately 4 p.m. local time Saturday before spreading rapidly beyond its boundaries.
The Department of National Defence say that there are no indications that the fire and explosion at CFB Wainwright was a terrorist attack.
A spokesperson shared that the incident remains under investigation.
Turning into a pretty bloody weekend for North American forces. God bless the fallen and their families.
Another inexpilicable incident. I can't even begin to imagine what happened.

FUCK ME! Air Force Commando dies in fast rope mishap at football game demonstration...
Thanks to Carlton for the link!
Jesus! This is terrible news. God bless this dude and may his family somehow find peace. It ain't suppose to happen like this. Damn!
via New York Post.
An Air Force commando who fell from the 170-foot rafters in front of thousands of horrified fans at a University of Texas at San Antonio football game Saturday has died.
The airman slipped while rappelling from the roof of the Alamodome before the UTSA game against Navy — and plunged to the ground.
The service member, who was assigned to the 6th Combat Training Squadron, Detachment 2, was mortally injured during a pregame demonstration at the school’s “Salute to Armed Forces and Veterans” game.
This sucks so bad. When dude walked out the door in the morning he didn't see this coming. Neither did his family.
Life is precious.
Safeguard it.
Priority number one? Go home the same way you left (at least physically) if you have anything to do with it.
People want the player suspended and are pissed. I'm not. This chic had main character energy
I disagree with many on this. This woman has main character energy. She arrived late. Pushes the player out of the way so she could do what? Two trainers were already dealing with the situation and she would have added nothing but confusion. Get angry about the school shooting. Get angry about the economy. Get angry about the war in the Middle East, Europe and all the brush fires going on in Africa, but this? It's a .01 on the scale. If you wanna get mad at anyone involved in this then how about aim it at the right target. In my opinion the wanna be superhero female.Kimari Robinson has ANGERED the masses after this incident! Duke CB Landan Callahan was being treated on the field by two individuals from the medical staff before Athletic Training Fellow, Grace Dietrich, also entered the scene. As she tried to make room for herself by moving Robinson away, he swatted her arm away. Dietrich looked a bit shaken after the reaction. Many fans defended Robinson by saying he was worried about his injured teammate. But many more College Football fans believe that this deserves a suspension. What do y'all think? Understandable or unnecessary? https://t.co/p2T0uXGj1B

Rheinmetall Boxer 8×8 armored vehicles, in the Lance 2 turret configuration, armed with the 30 mm MK30-2/ABM
