Thanks to Jonathan for the link!

via aa.com.tr
Leading Turkish defense contractor Aselsan is ready to produce a new generation armored fighting vehicle -- the 35mm combat ready KORHAN, according to an official of the firm.

The KORHAN was unveiled at the 13th International Defense Industry Fair 2017 (IDEF) last May.

Aselsan is awaiting decision from Turkish authorities for mass production of KORHAN.

KORHAN has been developed to meet requirements of Turkish Land Forces Command.

The infantry fighting vehicle aims to meet challenges of a battlefield by availing cutting-edge technology.

The KORHAN is equipped with high firepower and an advanced target acquisition and tracking system.

The system is capable of using 35mm ammunition, which is produced in Turkey.
So this is their response to the FNSS offering?  Interesting!

Politics/Intel Talk. Former FBI Agents are concerned about Comey interview...

via Daily Caller.
Former FBI director James Comey’s nearly five-hour interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos is raising concerns among veteran members of the FBI, three veterans tell The Daily Caller.

“I’m troubled by the timing of the book and some of the content that has been reported because I think it diminishes him” former assistant director of the FBI Ron Hosko tells TheDC. Hosko took particular exception with Comey’s detailed description of President Donald Trump’s appearance, including his likely use of tanning goggles, his hand size, and the length of his ties.

“To me that kind of salacious commentary diminishes Jim Comey, raises more questions about his true desire here,” Hosko continued. He added that Comey is a “carrier of the FBI brand” and is making the job of current FBI Director Wray much more difficult.

“Director Wray would rather be answering questions on the FBI’s current work, its mission, priorities, and challenges rather than having this rather cloud on his horizon, questions about Jim Comey.” Hosko also warned that Comey’s animus to the president displayed in the interview would stoke accusations that a “deep state” is attempting to undermine Trump and his administration.
Story here.

Really don't have much of an opinion on this one.  I do know that I found it interesting that Comey would hit on the left's talking point when discussing Trump's skin color, hand size etc....

Russia's hybrid military forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in Donbas?

via Unian.info
Russia's hybrid military forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in Donbas 52 times in the past 24 hours, with one Ukrainian soldier reported as killed in action (KIA) and another five as wounded in action (WIA). "In the Luhansk sector, militants fired proscribed 152mm and 122mm artillery systems, 82mm mortars and grenade launchers at the Ukrainian positions near the village of Zaitseve," the press center of the headquarters of Ukraine's military operations reported on Facebook Friday morning. "Besides, the aggressor employed infantry fighting vehicles and grenade launchers against the Ukrainian fortified positions near the village of Luhanske, grenade launchers near the village of Krymske, and heavy machine guns near the villages of Stanytsia Luhanska and Novoluhanske," the report says.
Story here.

We haven't touched on the situation in Ukraine for a bit here because that's another confusing fight with murky objectives.

I have been monitoring the West pouring new arms and equipment into Ukraine however but if this report is true then its doing no good.

This is one of those fights where the US needs to get away and let the Russians and Europeans sort themselves out.

Any thought of a military victory by Ukraine seems to be pure fantasy and I can't think of one SANE person that believes Ukraine is worth the loss of even one US or allied soldier (well maybe the Poles think otherwise but that's about it).

We really need to solve some of the many troublespots around the world.  What we're doing now is only prolonging instability, displacing people on a global scale and increasing human suffering.

We've got to start getting negotiated settlements because the "limited" military option isn't working and full scale combat is a non-starter.

CH-147 Chinook helicopter during Ex Common Ground...

Tigon 6x6 armoured wheeled vehicle.

via Shepard Media.
Hanwha Defense Systems selected DSA 2018 in Kuala Lumpur as the location to unveil its new Tigon 6x6 armoured wheeled vehicle.

In fact, soon after the exhibition, the giant South Korean defence conglomerate will be conducting a fortnight-long trial with the Malaysian Army for this new-generation vehicle.

The Tigon is a successor to the Black Fox, which was developed by Doosan DST, and which was acquired by the Indonesian Army.

Four different weapon systems are currently on offer for the Tigon: a crew-served 12.7mm machine gun, and three types of RWS ranging from 12.7mm machine gun to 30mm cannon to 90mm gun. The vehicle’s weight varies from 21t to 22t depending on what weapon is selected.

The actual vehicle that will be used for the trials was exhibited on a stand belonging to AVP Engineering, a Malaysian company that has partnered with Hanwha for a number of years.

AVP Engineering specialises in vehicle products. For example, it is currently fulfilling a contract to outfit 500 ambulances based on Toyota chassis for Malaysia’s Ministry of Health, and it has previously supplied Ford F550-based ambulance bodies to the MoD.

The Tigon has a crew of two and it can carry up to nine passengers in the rear compartment. Able to operate at ranges of up to 1,000km, it features a central tyre inflation system.

A 525hp Caterpillar C9.3 turbo-diesel engine coupled to an Allison 4500SP six-speed automatic transmission offers a top road speed of 100km/h and a waterborne speed of 8.5km/h via waterjets. However, the amphibious performance is affected by the weapon system and level of ballistic protection selected by the user.

The Malaysian Army has long held an ambition for a 6x6 APC, especially for the type of United Nations peacekeeping mission that Malaysia is currently performing in Lebanon. There were once reports connecting the Anoa, a 6x6 APC from PT Pindad in Indonesia, to the Malaysian Army, but such a deal never materialized.

Doosan, which was since absorbed by Hanwha, had previously demonstrated the Black Fox to the Malaysian Army.

If the Tigon is selected by Malaysia, Hanwha would make the hull and subsystems while AVP Engineering would outfit the interior as part of a transfer of technology agreement.

The week preceding DSA 2018, Hanwha exhibited a scale model of the Tigo at DefExpo in India.
Ok.  Don't know what to say. Definitely want to see it moving, nice looking though.

Bundeswehr vid on forward presence operations in Lithuania (Instagram Marketing Piece)

They really have gotten all onboard with marketing the Boxer haven't they.

BUT!!!!

Everyone has forgotten that they also have a tracked IFV that we hardly ever hear about and hardly ever see.  What's going on with the Puma?

VBM Freccia (Arrow) of the Italian Army during a training exercise

Ya know what's interesting and what many people have missed?  Italy seems to be standardizing on the little known but pretty darn awesome Freccia IFV as their vehicle of the future.

It's almost always left out of the conversation when it comes to the "good" wheeled 8x8 apc and infantry fighting vehicles but its worthy of discussion.

They've constantly updated it and if it was about marketing they'd be given new designations but its about performance and I think they're well placed.

Sidenote.  As far as armor is concerned I think (not sure) they're right near the top and are some of the heaviest and most mobile 8x8 available today.  I wonder why Iveco didn't enter the Aussie contest for the Land 400?
