Germany to enact stage 2 emergency plan over energy

Europe will be lucky if its just a recession. If this hits as hard as I think then they'll be looking at damn near a depression. Germany is screwed.

Let me repeat.

The sanctions were applied stupidly and now the chickens are coming home to roost.  Some thought it would just be the 3rd world that suffered?  Bullshit.  This is gonna hit us all.  Emotion overruled common sense.

Ukrainian military officials are increasingly worried that U.S.-provided Gray Eagle strike drones would get shot down by reinforced Russian air defenses in the Donbas region.

Could this be one of the "lessons" that everyone is getting wrong? Loitering munitions seem like they're king (because they're small?) but bigger ones seem vulnerable IF the Russians actually fought as a combined arms team. The Gray Eagle would appear to be vulnerable to a range of Russian anti-air systems yet the slightly smaller Turkish drone has been roaming free (awful tactics on the Russian side or some magic juice we don't know about).

The actual utility of drones on the future battlefield should be studied .... they might not be the game changer that many think.

The new head of the British army, Patrick Sanders, has called for an army capable of defeating Russia.

Wow, not even the BAOR units talked of being able to do this solo. That's when they were at their strongest.  Smack talk or is he serious?

Three vessels from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) interacted in an unsafe and unprofessional manner as U.S. Navy ships transited the Strait of Hormuz

Three vessels from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) interacted in an unsafe and unprofessional manner as U.S. Navy ships transited the Strait of Hormuz, June 20.

Patrol coastal ship USS Sirocco (PC 6) and expeditionary fast transport ship USNS Choctaw County (T-EPF 2) were conducting a routine transit in international waters when three Iranian fast inshore attack craft approached.

One of the IRGCN vessels approached Sirocco head-on at a dangerously high speed and only altered course after the U.S. patrol coastal ship issued audible warning signals to avoid collision. The Iranian vessel also came within 50 yards of the U.S. Navy ship during the interaction, and Sirocco responded by deploying a warning flare.

The full interaction among all vessels lasted one hour and ended when the IRGCN craft departed the area. U.S. Navy ships continued their transit without further incident.

The IRGCN’s actions did not meet international standards of professional or safe maritime behavior, increasing the risk of miscalculation and collision.

U.S. naval forces remain vigilant and will continue to fly, sail and operate anywhere international law allows while promoting regional maritime security.

Ya know what has me a little disturbed. We have forces forward deployed all over the world, and incidents like this raise eyebrows.

Quite honestly we should be see MANY more of these type incidents.

Forward presence comes with a price.  Those units out front have to be prepared to get hit and give hits if the concept is gonna truly be effective.
