President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced a surprise bid for fast-track membership of the NATO military alliance on Friday and ruled out talks with President Vladimir Putin, striking back at Moscow after it said it had annexed four Ukrainian regions.
Zelenskiy signed the NATO application papers in an online video clearly intended as a forceful rebuttal to the Kremlin after Putin held a ceremony in Moscow to proclaim the four partially occupied regions as annexed Russian land.
This is beyond interesting and provocative to such a degree as to make my opposition to this guy EXPLODE in magnitude.
Zelensky is a fool that has been reading too many of his own propped up press releases.

What is this idiot thinking?
That would mean that the US and the rest of NATO (make no mistake that the US would do the bulk of the fighting and dying) would be drawn into a war with Russia immediately.
That alone should be a non-starter, but bigger issues remain.
I know there are many Russia Hawks that want this fight in the US, along with many Russia Hawks in Eastern Europe, but the rest of the American people? Not so much.
What do I mean?
For every favorable post you see online there is a big and growing subset of people (me included) that wonder why we're basically funding the Ukrainian govt and feeding them so much of our weaponry that we're stripping active duty units of needed gear.

Not having it. But I will make a prediction. Once this mess is over I'll be body parts that I highly value that you're gonna find so much waste, fraud and abuse in the money we've sent over that it'll trigger another useless congressional investigation.
Many good people are dying while the usual bureaucrats are getting rich.
The people of the world are getting paid and gonna suffer for what could have easily been a diplomatic solution.
BUT the elite don't care. They're making money and that's all that matters. Fuck the suffering, the killed and injured and the others that will suffer economically and emotionally from a war in the heart of Europe.
Sidenote. Riddle me this. Why make a play for immediate NATO membership? Zelensky knows its provocative. Why didn't he go for EU membership instead? Simple. The EU will require reforms of his entire govt and economic system before being allowed in. Why no talks? The longer the war goes on the bigger the prize at the end. They'll milk the West dry using the slogan of fighting for OUR freedom while extracting every coin in our pockets.
