What is this rifle?

I saw this on the STRIKEHOLD blog and can't for the life of me figure out what rifle this guy is shooting.  That bolt must be as smooth as butter for him to have gotten back on target and ready to fire with a spent shell still in the air.

    1. hmmm. the photo was taken at a army special ops sponsored competition but i thought the FRF2 was alot longer, i've never seen one with carbon fiber---you could easily be right but it just looks off from that.

  3. It's a 3rd party stock/chassis system on an unidentified action.

    The stock/chassis is called SABER-FORSST

Here is a very large version of the above pic.

  4. It looks like their ASW308 model (Pic of Action).

    1. It looks to be an earlier version of the ASW308. While the lower receiver & magwell match the current ASW308, the scope rail matches that of the TCR series (not a full length top rail, ie stops where the barrel mates to the receiver).

  5. Hell, It's a Blagulon Kappa Police "Kill-O-Zap" gun.
As one can see clearly there is a noticeable difference to each end.

The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with.'

  6. It's an M-40A3 or M-40A5 with a different chassis system. It's got the characteristic Remington 700 action and safety, and then the newer muzzle break as well as the drop-down side-rail. Not only that, but there are few other nations use MARPAT camo, so it's safe to assume a Marine and his rifle.

    1. He's MARSOC. they don't play by Marine Corps rules. who knows what gear they're runninng...the only thing that we can be sure of is that its nonstandard and probably boutique.

    2. I concur... I missed the ID on the action as the Winchester and R-700 actions (the rear of the bolt) are almost identical.

If you look at the sides of the R-700 bolt compared to the photo in question and the ASW308, you will see that the ASW308's rear bolt has flat sides while the R-700 is round. The photo in question has a round bolt.

I looked on their site and they offer the SABER®-FORSST® MOD-0 for the R-700.

      Here is a PDF brochure.
