Dept of Defense strikes first??

Just a note.  I'm a HUGE supporter of our defense establishment.  Heck to be honest, I believe that a strong national defense is one of the FEW constitutionally mandated responsibilities of a nation.  Social welfare, national health insurance in my opinion are outside the scope of what a FEDERAL government is suppose to provide.

My politics and really no big deal...just my opinion and you have the right to agree or disagree...that's not the issue here.

What is at issue is this.

Have you noticed the latest news reports?

This from Information Dissemination regarding DF-21 (anti-ship ballistic missile) reaching initial operating capability... and ...

This from Aviation Week regarding the Chinese Stealth Fighter finally being revealed to the public.

The timing is strange...two news releases regarding startling new capabilities from the Chinese military when we were all told that they were at least 5 years away from having the DF-21 up and running and at least another 10 to 15 years away from having a credible stealth fighter???

Either our intelligence resources are woefully inadequate or we're seeing a sophisticated chess game being orchestrated by the DoD to protect resources.

Nothing stirs American passions than having a deadly foe to get ready to confront.

  1. I think our intel services are adequate, but I think our political leadership only releases information that support their policies.

Look at how militantly Obama/Gates enforces message discipline to make sure none of his generals offer an honest opinion that contradicts the party line.
