Dornier DO 31..

Imagine if this airplane used the engines from the X-32!  It would be able to hover without the need for additional podded lift jets.

It really does seem like nothing is new under the sun and the US Army and Air Forces future lift vehicle has already been solved...all we need to do is to add current tech to it.

  1. A Englishman said that every aircraft have four dimensions.Length ,Height ,weight and politics. The last is the most important.

  2. Here is link to the Fairy Rotodyne. it was built in 1958 long before modern electronics and flight control systems. It cures most of the V-22s flight and maintenance problems because the vertical and forward lift and thrust systems were separate. Now if Lock-Mart or BA took this up I'm sure we could get 20 built with all the new bells and whistles in 12-16 years for only $70million a piece. Enjoy!
