It said that the embargo was considered a slap in the face for the world's second largest economic bloc as well as militarily ineffective by the EU as China increasingly builds its own weapons.
A confidential report presented to the last European Union summit that ended on December 17 described the embargo as "a major obstacle" to Europe-China security and foreign policy cooperation.
As a result "the EU should draw the practical conclusions and go ahead," the report said.
Does this mean that we (through the EU) will be selling a hostile power the very weapons that they will one day use against our own forces?

For example, GM (the President's pet project)is in such a deal and looking to expand it further while China is putting itself in place to compete with them.

Solomon, I'm really glad that someone called out this move to lift the embargo and what it really means to the balance of military power in the pacific. Also, thanks for including Catherine Ashton's name instead of letting be known as some nameless government officials statement. "Baroness" Ashton, despite being a high level EU official, has a shady history and has in fact never been elected to office by the public.

We have to listen to generalizations and insults about fat/selfish/entitled Americans while we American taxpayers work 40/50/60+ hours a week with part of our paychecks going to defend unsustainable Euro-socialism.
And if that's not bad enough, we're told we should be more like Europe! Who in the hell pays the defense bill should that ever happen?!?
I too think we should pull our troops and our bases and end NATO. Let the Europeans re-acquaint themselves with the values that made them great or let Europe fall.
