What The F*CK!!!!

Thanks Phil for sending me this link!!!

ELP Defens(c)e Blog is in favor of the F-35?????

Now that the latest USAF gathering in Orlando–which in recent years doesn’t
produce much of anything–is over, we can have the week of wild alternatives
for the USAF fighter roadmap. How to fix a force structure in the coming
years of shrinking budgets? Well, we need ideas. And these will be thrown
around mostly for entertainment purposes. And when I state “shrinking
budgets”, I mean real bad stuff. All plans will assume the stupids in D.C.
let F-22 production close.

Plan one.

The F-35 program will be composed of 20 Fighter Groups. Each group will have
one squadron of 24 F-35B STOVL aircraft. They will be procured at 48 per
year for 10 years. This does not count extras for test, training and
development. This will support 10 AEFs and allow for home air defense of the
most basic kind.

A-10s stays as-is. Refurb as much and as many times as needed.
Ok, if ELP is in favor of the F-35B then the world is spinning backwards, the end times are here and there is hope for the world to get right again!

  1. Funny. I used to read ELP, but he became a broken record saying the same thing every day over and over.

  2. lets see...how would my nemesis state it? ELP is quite lucid on any subject except his 'hated' F-35!

  3. So I guess it does freeze in Hell. :)

I think you have to read it that this plan sees no real alternative besides the F-35, not even late block F-16s or even USAF F/A-18E/Fs (that idea has also been proposed, however briefly).

I'm still amazed that some other blogs still cry for more F-22's, and refuse to believe that that program is over and finished. Especially our favourite blog from Down Under still demands F-22's knowing full well that the Raptor won't be exported, even to a trusted ally.

  4. I guess it finally dawned on him that "Super" Hornets can't operate off amphibious assault ships. ROFL!

  5. ELP is harmless. It's stuff like this from the NY Times that concerns me.

  6. @ Drake1

How exactly does the NYT article concern you?

  7. hey Drake, i read that garbage....just a bunch of reporter boys wanting to play general. they can officially kiss my ass..no one cares about what they think or want

  8. Eric thinks the most expensive and least capable F-35 platform should be continued with? Man...

    Here's what I would do.

    1. Can F136 today.

    2. Can F-35C and F/A-18A/B/C/D Hornet life extensions/upgrades today.

    3. Expand the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet program and use F-35C and legacy Hornet cuts to pay for additional aircraft and increased capabilities along the Hornet International upgrade line of thinking. Ram Super Hornet down the USMC's throat to replace their legacy Hornets or they don't get a new aircraft and their legacy Hornets are retired without replacement. Period.

    4. Continue with a more limited run of F-35B's to replace USMC Harrier capability only. Use savings from overall smaller fleet acquisition to offset increased unit cost for the smaller fleet.

    5. Continue with F-35A as planned. Can life extension programs for legacy jets and retire older jets as necessary. Use savings from legacy jet fleet and resources from F-35C development to reduce development time needed for -A model and bring it in to service quicker.

    6. Increase investment and development resources into low observable UCAS solutions, most urgently for USN, but for USAF as well. Ram a combined solution down USAF and USN's throats.

    7. Increase development of low observable standoff weapon systems for USN/USMC usage in "first strike" scenarios to compensate for the loss of manned LO capability.

  9. how about build New improved A-10 with the latest upgrades and engines like the ch-53s

  10. Maximize platform overlaps across the services; hasten adaptation of game-changing technologies; retire old jets in order to finance such transitions. Good list.

On top of that, i'd suggest ramming EA18G down USAF's throat. Tanker, AEW&C, transport and other remaining classic platforms will need it.

  11. probably not because the A-10 is designed to operate in permissive environments.

too slow to get to Infantry in contact fast, lack of ISR to provide timely intelligence once it gets there and lacks the endurance to provide overwatch once its on station.

the A-10 will be a victim of UAVs...not fighters.

  12. also to my new Anonymous...that sorta sounds like the goals of the F-35 program huh!!!
