America...are you really this naive?

pic from MSNBC News.
MSNBC is reporting spontaneous celebrations in front of the White House because OBL got justice.

Really?

Are we really this naive America?

Does anyone believe that the world is a safer place now?

Does anyone not believe that the shooting of the Air Force personnel might not have been in retaliation and that there is more to come?

Does anyone believe that our Marines, Soldiers, Airmen and Sailors that are going out on patrol tomorrow are going to be welcomed as liberators and not have to worry about the usual -- dodging snipers and avoiding mines/ied's?

To my British friends I apologize but this is as news worthy as the Royal Wedding---meaning not news worthy at all.

The wars continue boys and girls...your sons and daughters are still in danger and still doing dangerous work.

Don't be naive and don't forget it.

UPDATE:
Military Times is reporting how former President Bush is reacting to the news of OBL's reckoning.

UPDATE 1:
Ok, let me be a bit more clear.  I don't mind playing the part of the Ugly American...done it many times, have the role down pat and can even do it in my sleep.  But this is sophomoric!  NOTHINGS CHANGED!  But some are celebrating...maybe its an urban vs. rural thing.  Maybe its a military vs. civilian thing.  Maybe its a conservative vs. liberal thing....but I just don't get it.

  1. Most people who read this blog realize that things are not "over". You post other thinks about successes of the US military. This is no different. I am not saying that that war on terror is over. The young people in NY and DC aren't that naive either. This is a victory that can be celebrated. The US populace has been frustrated with what has been viewed as a constant stream of negativity coming from Afghanistan and we finally have some positive news. With the exception of the Olympics or a UFC fight when was the last time you heard the chants of USA, USA, USA in America? Embrace it and lets move forward. Troops in theatre read this blog and appreciate the civilians enthusiasm.

  3. Nice post Dino could not have said it better myself. I will add this, while OBL is now out of the picture, what we won't have to deal with is the farce of a trail that was with Hussein. Not only that, their will be no body paraded through the streets by OBL's supporters.
The man is dead, time to move on. Question is who replaces him? And how long will it take to hunt him down.

  4. I don't think anyone is under the illusion that it is over. Ayman al-Zawahri is still out there

  5. "Question is who replaces him?"

Ayman Al-Zawahiri - the ideological leader and 'number two' of AQ. Some say he's the actual leader and not OBL, as he suffered from kidney failure or something.

  6. I was just telling friend that it is in the President's long term political interests to tamper the enthusiasm(especially that of his base)and remind everyone that his stated stated mission goals have not yet been fulfilled.

Then again, he may want to get out of Afghanistan as fast as possible, due to reelection and domestic policy goals.

    Who knows with Mr.Sphinx?

  7. ok Drake. you're setting me up. i know that but i'm going to throw this out there anyway.

are these celebratory mobs driven by someone or are they actually spontaneous? i mean come on! college kids will party for any reason but look at where this is taking place.

NY, Washington D.C. and then the large college campuses. this seems like astro turf to me and not real grass roots.

another thing. if you'll notice...the heartland is where the troops come from and the celebrations are no where to be seen. in the urban centers, the military is looked down on and thats where you see this stuff.

    just sayin.

  8. You guys have to remember that the average American doesn't pay attention to this stuff.

Go read the messages on the Washington Post boards. Many of the posters there are Liberal and are saying mission accomplished, time to pull out.

  9. College campuses are the breeding ground of Liberal politics. College students love this guy.

  10. I'm just gonna throw this out there...

Within 45 minutes of this fuctard's death, there were massive celebrations at the U.S Naval, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Military Academies. I don't think anyone "orcastrated" these spontaneous celebrations, I think young Americans are generally thrilled that this evil god damn fucking bastard had his brains blown out by a NAVY SEAL who was probably no older than the college kids celebrating.

  12. Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth,
lest the LORD see it and it displease Him, and He turn away His wrath from him.

    Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious of the wicked;
for there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.

  13. The celebrations are spontaneous, and yes, most of these young civilian college celebrants ARE naive. They will pat POTUS on the back (deservedly so for greenlighting this Op), give him all the credit (undeservedly so) and think now that it's all over. They will be the same crowds that rail against the war on terror and fail to recognize that it's far from over.

  14. No Sol, it's not over.

In my mind there are more unanswered questions than answered ones at this point...
