They should have named an aircraft carrier after him.

Thanks Craig for sending me this vid.

Remember this post on the naming of a new Destroyer after LT Murphy?  They should have named an aircraft carrier after this American hero.

This is the story that the Navy should be shouting to the rooftops.

  1. Solomon,

first, I know I owe you an email. Sorry; life's been happening, here.

Second, the ship should be christened next saturday, Lt. Murphy's birthday.

Third, better a DDG than a carrier. A DDG *protects* carriers --something bigger than themselves-- and can do a number on its own --even lead, I believe--. Looks more like the spirit, does it not?

Hell of a man, hell of a team. Take care.

  3. good point Shugyosha. i guess what i was trying to say is that he put more on the line, showed more courage and deserves more honor than the trend of naming aircraft carriers after Presidents (except maybe Bush 1)

  4. Yeah, I don't even like ships being named after living people (it either smells of love-me-so or will-ya-die-already?). Even so, presidents are not the worst of the names being used; not by far.

And I really shouldn't be giving my opinion into US matters, I'm afraid.

    Take care.

    Ferran.
