30mm Upgrade for AAV's?

I've wondered what upgrades might be offered for the AAV to the Marine Corps (once they finally get around to doing it!).  One thing that I keep seeing on BAE's website is this 30mm RWS.  Its made by ELBIT of America and appears ready to go.

My question is this.  Does AAV operational philosophy demand a manned weapon station?  Is a 30mm weapon too much?  Would a compact 25mm cannon suffice?

Questions, questions but no answers.  I'll keep looking and if you hear something then hit me up.

  1. The big questions are what can the hull take?
The orginal vehicle test model had some problems with this from what I've heard

Is this rws going to be amphibious (defeats the point if you splash and it goes out)?
Big deal here, one reason why most trackers don't shoot electric out of their turret.

Will it take away a aav's ability to right itself if it flps in the water?

What about the orginal lvt7 test model that had a 25mm autocannon in the turret? We could bring it back, remodel with electric instead of hydro systems(big reason it never saw production it keep busting hydro lines)

How many if these gun tracks do we need? If you update the armor package on the aav with full body.composites that give you that 20/30mm protection update the turret to fire stabalized with a built in range finder (this turret is already around!!) One track a section with a big gun should do the job, simply put the supported platoons weapons team in the vehicle and you have mobike fire support.

Just stuff we at IOC brainstormed
