Archetype. The best short Sci-Fi film I've seen in years.

You know a short film is good when it has you wanting to see more.  You know its great when you sit through the credits cause you want to see who the actors, directors, producers etc...are.  Archetype is that kinda film for me.  Check it out!

  1. this is a cool video, had me thinking a little bit about robocop, until the middle. It would be cool to see a full length video made.

  2. you got a Robocop vibe? i was thinking more a starship troopers (the book form, not that pathetic movie) but the middle changed up for me too. i really hope they get funding to do it big...time will tell, i do know its getting rave reviews.

  4. well the beginning of Robocop when Murphy has been changed into Robo and then he starts to have memories, that's about it. It is making the rounds on the net that is for sure, I've now seen it on at least 3 other sites. For a Sunday that is amazing.

  5. After viewing it my thought was interesting prologue. The initial sequence where the insurgents got that close to networked sensor laden robot infantry did annoy me in not being realistic but I got over it. Not clear they could expand the short to a full length as there's only so much you can do with robots having "real" memories, it's been explored quite a bit. But certainly at the end you do want to know more.

Humans in combat suits (Heinlein) normally trump self aware robots unless the robots are human like to the point of being compelling. It's when the robots or computers gain emotions or flaws (humanity) that they become interesting for us such as Hal from 2001, Data from Star Trek, Asimov, etc.
