T-90M

  1. I could be wrong but I thought the M was for India with French and Israeli systems and that Russia is no longer buying the T-90 for itself? Supposedly they are working on a new MBT for service by the end of the decade.

In any case the T-72 always was a powerful looking tank but 45 years after development began even the Russian's have concluded they can do better.

Two years ago India had the T-90 compete against the Arjun and according to quite a few reports the Arjun performed better. India is planning on fielding 500 Arjun's along with about 1,600 T-90's although how many of the 1,000 they plan to build in India could change. Russia has about 700 T-90's so India eventually will operate more than twice as many.
