Red Bull Machine Gunner...

5 comments :

  1. I have already seen that in another blog...its a great idea...but why do you call it red bull machine gunner?...is it because it is an extreme idea?Sorry for the question but some things get lost in translation.
And sorry for taking your time Solomon ,but why no news on the israeli raid on Syria? And why no news on th rumours of the USMC upgrading to the M-16 A-5?From AR-15.com«Sources inside the Marine Corps indicate that the Corps has bucked the other branches of the service and plans to continue and further the use of rifle length M16 family firearms. The M16A5 ACMR (Armorer Conversion Marksman Rifle) will be manufactured using components provided primarily by VLTOR Weapons System of Tuscon, Arizona, and this will be the largest contract ever taken on by the firm. VLTOR has previously been contracted to provide adjustable stock kits for the exist M16A4, and these kits have been well liked and highly sought after. The ACMR will feature a monolithic rifle length VIS upper receiver and a VLTOR M16A5 adjustable stock kit, which provides a buffer tube with seven, as opposed to the usual six, choices of length of pull and uses the existing rifle length buffer and springs. All VLTOR parts will be provided in a Flat Dark Earth finish, per USMC request. The M16A5 eschews the carry handle rear sight but retains a fixed sight in the form of a Lewis Machine and Tool sight that replicates the sight common the M16 family of firearms and has been used previously by forces within the Navy Department on the Mk 18 CQBR. As the name suggests, upgrading an M16A4 to M16A5 spec will be a task simple enough for an armorer in country, as the M16A5 retains the barrel, front sight, lower receiver, fire control group, bolt, bolt carrier group, gas tube, buffer and springs of the M16A4. As it lacks a heavy barrel, the ACMR cannot be considered a true precision rifle, but the newly free floated barrel coupled with either a Trijicon TA31 4x32 optic (first employed by the Marines on the new M27 IAR) or Schmidt and Bender 3-12x50 rifle scope increases accuracy by up to 35% on average in the hands of trained sharpshooter. Additionally, the monolithic upper substantially increases the accuracy and return-to-zero capability of night vision and laser aiming devices. The M16A5 kit, sans optics, costs the taxpayer $1200 per rifle. The Marine Corps goal is to upgrade 100% of the M16A4s assigned to special operations capable units by 2014 and 50% of all M16A4s in their inventory by late 2015.

  2. its called the Red Bull Machine Gunner because that's the mascot/emblem of the unit that produced the photo.

as far as the M16A5 is concerned its one of those things that has been talked about since at least 2004 and still hasn't been done...those very specs that were pointed out were established in 2006.... i doubt that it will with the current budgetary problems. Marine Special Operations might get it but the Marine Corps itself? doubtful.

as far as the raid on Syria. just too foggy and the mess in Syria just doesn't capture my attention. sorry to be blunt but its just another Muslim country that's spiraling out of control and will soon be in the hands of people that are enemies of the West. its not really interesting, nor is it something new. its just another sad reality that i've grown tired of. i don't mean to be short but i really am tired of helping people that turn around and will spit in our faces for the help. if Syria burns then so be it. by my thinking the US will soon have enough troubles on its own plate that Syria will be the backburner issue that it deserves to be.

  3. Totally agree with you, but my point on Syria was the fact that Israel bombed one of the most SAM saturated places in the world(With SAM systems that APA said to be vemon to the JSF)with 4th gen fighters...this is gold ,after all these fighters should have been killed by the lattest russian SAMs!
On the M-16 A-5 issue i am surprised that they dont talk abou full auto fire...just like your opinion on that.

  4. hmmm i hadn't considered the sam issue. but even so i don't know exactly how much we have learned from this attack. Israel has been studying their neighbors for years so planning an attack with prepackaged intel wouldn't be challenging. do the same thing against Iran and i'll be a bit more impressed.

as far as the M16A5 is concerned, they need automatic fire but the US way of war currently emphasizes precision fire over suppressive fire. once Marines start operating in the Jungle again they'll get head out of ass but it'l take a few confrontations with some Philippine Terrorists for that lesson to sink in.

  5. Israel has breached Syrias SAM net on several occasions.
Its not all its made out to be even on the spec sheet.

    My understanding is
Israeli Special Forces cross the border and cut the data lines that link the integrated SAM system.
    Syria defaults to radio links.
    Israeli listens and hacks system.

Israel can then freely flood the integrated system with false data.
