ReplyDeleteThis won't last long in actual practice, after a few 25 miles gut busting humps or that one 11 mile hump in GITMO at full gear I will expect to see any women in the Infantry quickly be steered into admin/comm or some other make shift job in the Bn's that does not include any infantry work while still maintaining an 03 MOS.

This will fail miserably but rather than admit women cannot do the job and they are wrong the program will just go ahead and the force will be indeed Hollow.
There is NO FLOGGIN' way your average Woman Marine can hump an 85 lb combat load, ammo, armor, weapon, water and rations around the wire at GITMO in 112 f degree heat and 100% humidity.
IF at least half of every woman Marine Riflemen can do that hump they will be lucky.
A Marine unit is already short on T&O there are never enough warm bodies to fill billets if on every hump you lose half your force to "cannot do it" if you have a 50/50 mix female to male, 25% losses of personnel to all causes in combat is considered combat ineffective so the Marines will go to battle and on the first hard hump become combat ineffective.
It's not sexist or gender discrimination it's abject reality.
Some women can hump out of a Frozen Chosin situation or wade ashore on a Betio landing and do just fine but not many and I personally would not want to see them do it and would not even order them to.
Seriously take a woman and run her into the same battle as Eugene Sledge saw at Pelilui and then say this is progress for women.
Me thinks somebody must hate women very much to send them into hell.
What happens when no women desire to be 03's? Will the girls be forced into the field in order to be politically correct?
