Marines complaining about not having hot chow is a sign of bigger problems.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think the Marine Corps might be fraying at the edges.  Consider the social change that has been brought upon the Marine Corps in the past 1.5 years...with more to come.

*  Gays in the military.
*  Women in combat.
*  Sexual assault issue.
*  Repeat deployments.

And that's just off the top of my head after a few beers.  The list could grow if you were to add new training requirements, new promotion requirements, new disciplinary rules etc...That list is the hallmark of a force that is under strain.

Marines complaining about not having hot chow?  That's not the Marine Corps way...you suck it up and move on.  The only thing that explains it is a restless, frustrated and almost demoralized force.

Its a small thing but if you're paying attention its bigger than you think.

  1. I swear to god the things Im going to fear the most when I get in the Army this year is being lectured about the gays and sexual harrasment. Everything my brothers have told me about the lectures they get in the Air Force makes me sick. I wish I could have got in during Reagan's days. None of all this bullshit happened. Not having hot chow sounds like spending cuts to me.

    1. i haven't dug down into it but its either spending cuts or the drawdown. Marines are going to be pretty much done in Afghanistan after Oct 1st.

    3. The thing that angers me is Obama cut their meals, these boys need fuel, they are hungry, then Obama says he had to because of cut backs, then he turns around and signed an executive order giving himself a big fat raise to 500K a year, and now? he proclaimed may 1st as now officially “Loyalty Day”, where all of the tax slaves of the United States can celebrate their obedience to government. Remember this, they work for us, we do not and never will be loyal to a tyrannical Govt.

    4. The President didn't cut their meals this was a logical decision in a drawdown, the Marine Corps has always done more with less, we don't need hot chow, its a nice-to-have, not a necessity.

  3. i dont see the connection with meals and gays in the military and women in combat, nothing has been heard of DADT repeal problems, and women in combat units is still being planned and not heavily implemented, this does sound like more budget issues although resupply should be a major prirotiy, also its BS to blame Obama, its DOD's job and logistic to provide this he doesnt say dont give people meals, thats BS, he isnt a military officer, just commander in chief, he does general policy and lets and trusts the military to do the details, blame the sequestration and budget cuts on the starve the beast ideas of debt reduction on congress no the president.

    1. your inexperience when it comes to moral issues is telling. you can hit a force with one or two changes but when you keep hitting an organization with change after change after change, then you're going to get friction and push back.

      change agents never get that but its why change never happens because they don't buy in from the people that are affected. that's why this is a moral issue. you don't look at stuff like this in isolation, you have to see the big picture. that's what i'm looking at while you're trying to drill down to this one thing. that's why you're wrong.
