Awesome IR masking cloak, but makes you wander what kind of maintenance and cost it would ad to such vehicles ,on the other hand for every counter measure there is a way of defeating it and the ways to defeat it are mostly much cheaper . Tech to cheat and work against decoys is bread and butter in SAM and AAM arena,with multi-spectral sensors that work in various light bands IR,UV etc.
The technology when coupled with other advances in technology such as active protection systems and work to reduce to EM spectrum, Synthetic Aperture Radar signature of a vehicle is quite promising. It’s basically a modularised thermoelectric or peltier effect cooler mounted onto a backplane that distributes power and gather temperature data so it’ll be interesting to know what the costs are like. I would also guess weight might be another issue as well as I doubt the military would want to rely too much on active protection systems and signature management to protect them in a ground environment.
