Weapon takeaway victim in the making.. via Tac Blog.

Note:  This photo was suppose to illustrate the concept of "armed police" that the Brits use.  I call it a weapon snatch victim in the making.  If you carry then you owe it to yourself and others to be in as good a shape as possible.  I see too many guys that can shoot the wings off a fly but would last 20 seconds in a fight and then wouldn't have the strength to walk around the corner.  Understand that for civilians the standards can be lower.  They're concerned only with self defense, but for police and military?  Too many hungry hungry hippos.

He definitely ain't planning on running with that leg rig setup that loose.

  2. It is strange such a porker is allowed to carry a weapon, the Authorised Firearms Officer (AFO) is part of an elite unit, in which they have to fulfill very high criteria to join and stay part of, Health and fitness are core attributes as well as psychological suitability. As part of Public Order Training, the 'beep test' is used to determine fitness, if you fail you are not allowed to a whole chunk of police operations. More stringent fitness checks are being brought in this year so this officer will be retired soon

    1. The test will be not so stringent due to the existence of female officers. You can't raise the bar just for one gender. That would be a discrimination!

    2. you're being sexist a lot of women officers have very high levels of fitness and remember they don't require the endurance and fitness of the SEALs or SAS, but the ability to outrun suspects whilst wearing full body armour as the copper in the picture clearly lacks. The current beep test already discriminates against women due their smaller stature and hip width but no one has suggested scrapping it

  3. I'll admit, my first thought was looking at slings and holsters as I was looking for unsecured items being easily grabbed. I'm not the skinniest kid on the block (6ft, 250) but damn! I still bike 9mi a day and 5 days a week on the weights. I'd rather be the strong guy in a fight than the fat guy any day.

UK police dont chase criminals, they turn up the next day and take statements, sometimes arresting victims who fought back
