King Tiger vs. IS-2. World of Tanks battle royal.

Blame and credit World of Tanks.

I've been running the American line of tank destroyers and have noticed that the IS-2 is a tough nut to crack and the KV-1s seem overpowered for their tiers.  We won't even get into the Tiger and King Tiger side of the equation, so I wanted to do some light reading on how they performed in combat.

The game's designers are Russian so that I thought they were biased toward Soviet vehicles (or maybe its my American nationalism peeking through) but after reading a few things it seems they are playing it pretty straight.

The above pdf just scratches the surface with information on the two vehicles but it gives a nice, quick overview of things.  Check it out.

  1. It's just reaslistic, despite it's not balanced... It's more USAF than ARMY that had crushed german armors..

  2. IS-2 is no interest to be on the same battlefield that Königstiger. German tank is design to crack enemy armor, all of them. Soviet tank is design to support infantry and destroying enemy fortifications with secondary role fighting armored vehicles. The only equivalent in terms of armor would be the IS-3, but still it posses the same D-25 main gun that had pretty weak anti armor ability.

  3. mechanical problems and breakdowns along with lack of fuel is what stopped most Tigers. The 88mm in it's anti-tank configuration probably is what stopped the IS-2 That and the rocket teams shooting them in the ass.

  4. The KV-1 was a total beast in real life. Five well hidden KV-1s held off the entire German 8th Panzer Division from taking Leningrad. A total of 43 German tanks were destroyed by just these five Soviet KV-1s in a half hour battle.

Hey, what tier are you on right now? I got my T57 Heavy and now I've been playing the artillery pieces.
