Terrorist launch battalion size, mechanized raid in Africa.

via Yahoo News.
Hundreds of Islamic militants in trucks and a stolen armored personnel carrier attacked an air force base and international airport on the outskirts of a Nigerian city before dawn Monday, officials and witnesses said, possibly leaving scores of people dead in one of the insurgent group's most daring attacks.
Two helicopters and three decommissioned military aircraft were "incapacitated" in the attack, said a statement from Brig. Gen. Chris Olukolade, the Ministry of Defense spokesman. He said some army bases also were hit.
Twenty-four insurgents were killed and many were wounded along with two air force personnel, Olukolade said in a statement.

Something bad is going on in Africa.   Something real bad.

An officer estimated that the attacking force numbered around 500.  A light Marine Corps Battalion.  They conducted a road march to the airport in question inside trucks and a stolen armored personnel carrier.  That makes it motorized.  There actions on the objective, the destruction of a couple of airplanes/helicopters makes it a raid.

500 or so terrorist.  A motorized raid.  Lose around 24 "troops".  Get away clean.

That sounds like a successful mission.

SOCOM, USMC Africa partnership mission and AFRICOM are all dropping the ball Africa is turning into the next hot spot right before our eyes.

  2. Africa is been a hot spot for a long time. The fires though are about to really flame up again though. Europe is also about to get a taste of some flames due to returning jihadist fighters from middle east the west saw blindly been supporting.

  3. Because almost every natural ressource in africa is exploited by european. Some of them are exploited by USA... Everything is warming up because china is spreading weapons over the continent, to steal our markets.
Since Rwanda, european and USA stopped to act like this... but we did it before them. It's a kind of justice we make today peacekeeping.

Stay out of Africa, it's a worse situation than the middle east and is worth less than any other place to fight or die for.
    There is literally nothing there.

    1. Yeah I think that probably moves them from "terrorists" to "rebels" or something. "Terror"-ism,-ist seems to get overused in the media....

  6. I wouldn't be surprise if the French Foreign Legion returns to Africa. It seems like the French Foreign Legion has well specialized in Africa missions and they know how to deal with that.

  7. Executive Outcomes did well there before Clinton and the U.N. demonized its success.

  8. Mr Palmer is right; Executive Outcomes did incredible work defeating UNITA in Angola and the RUF in Sierra Leone. It’d to bad Clinton decided to side with the African National Congress to by invoking the evil mercenary label, leaned on the South African government to rein in private military companies. I guess tin pot dictators in Africa saw that a highly organized and trained private outfit could come in and in their fun. Going forward in Africa the west will need men who are experts like Eben Barlow to deal with the emerging threats of communist backed terrorist groups.
