Chinese troops to seize Zhongye Island back from the Philippines in 2014

via China Daily Mail.
Relying on US support, the Philippines is so arrogant as to announce in the New Year that it will increase its navy and air force deployment at Zhongye Island, a Chinese island that it has illegally occupied for years.
It will be an intolerable insult to China
According to experts, the Chinese navy has drawn a detailed combat plan to seize the island and the battle will be restricted within the South China Sea.
The battle is aimed at recovery of the island stolen by the Philippines from China.
There will be no invasion into Filipino territories.
A report in the Philippines Star confirmed the Philippines military buildup on the island.
Yeah.  I can see this happening as a test run for US reaction to Chinese aggression for more important targets.

The Obama Administration has shown itself to be a bunch of rookies when it comes to foreign policy/defense of US interests.

The Chinese will roll the Filipino people and the "free trade" idiots, peaceniks and left wing pussies will blame the Philippines for the conflict.

This is almost a done deal before the first boots hits sand.

  1. Yup, The Filipino people need to get tough and hang tougher, don't depend on Obama and company for anything but a replay of Benghazi, Iraq, and Vietnam.

  2. Yeap, the Filipino's are so screwed. With their current Military as it is right now, they are SO SCREWD. They don't even have a Navy to defend themselves and their current Hamilton class light frigates, are nothing more than gunboats. They have no REAL Air force and quiet frankly they have nothing. They can forget Obama & the US coming to their rescue.

    1. small correction. AMERICA would love to help the Philippines, its the Obama admin that is showing its amateur status with regards to Chinese aggression.

    2. China will take that island in a week tops. Expect their Marines to spearhead with a hard amphibian landing using those zbd2000/ztd-05's and their paratroopers.

We are behind on the power curve for a amphibious landings, and are way behind on what should be a hard response.

    3. extremely well said. i've been yelling that the Army needs to dedicate a paratroop brigade or two to the pacific but it'll take the Chinese doing it the right way to get the attention of our leadership.

    4. PLAN will bomb the living cr@p out of the LST in one of those shoals. The LST was beached on purposed to act as a "base" for a handful of under-armed Philippine Marines.

John, PLAN will be finished in 2 hours. TOPS. There are no air defense or any heavy artillery to stop an amphibious assault. I have no idea what is the state of the ammunition and food/water supplies on those islets/shoals but PLAN can walk over the garrison with ease.

    5. I'll bet you that, China will show their own version of Shock & awe on the Philippines. In either case, no matter what the philippine put up for defense, it's still no match for china. Let's hope that Mutual defense treaty is still in effect with the Philippines, otherwise they are screwed and on their own.

    6. just because the treaty is in "effect" doesn't mean the US is going to do Jack or Shit. We will be do busy "talking" it out

    8. MARK: See Captor mines, aerial sown minefield covered by stand off missiles and platforms.
Ringing that place with sea and land mines might slow that down for two or more hours maintaining an exclusion zone around it.
      BUT!
The Filipino Navy doesn't have the missiles, platforms, mines or mining ships.
Yet maybe the Japanese, RoKs could loan then the gear and crews trained to use it.

    9. Here's how I see things going to get played ...

PLAN attacks the Filipinos at the Spratleys. Back home, the Pinoys will vent their anger at Chinese-owned business. Nearly everything shuts down due to the chaos. The Philippine president does what he does best, sits down and that looks like a deer caught in your car lights while driving down a lonely stretch of road at night.

Can't fight two "conflicts" the Philippine government calls for Martial Law.

PRoC seeing their expats in trouble escalates the issue ...

No-win for both sides. PLAN might as well hold their weapon down because, at the end of it all, they (PRoC government) will loose in the long run.

    hehe.

  4. The LST needs to be a large IED I would make it large enough to sink that island and let the fish fight over it.
The Chinese no doubt would park a sub on top of the debris and call it CHINA.
    Can anyone say, ambush?

  5. I hate to say this guys but the Pinoy are working a 40 yr antiquated war doctrine. Marines are a nice force to have in an island chain if for defense of land if it has vital importance to your society, but marines are also an assault force that implys having air and sea superiority.

Philippines has all these big marine corps type ships for transporting an army but they don't have a lot of air defenses or ships to sink other ships or submarines.

If they really want to put their hat on straight they will buy 24 fighter jets, then data link them to 200 Boeing Super avengers with AIM-9x Block III, and about 100 cheap missile boats with surface search radar,TSA, 2 harpoons and 2-MK 48 torpedos.

Then they need to keep those fighter jets and missile boats under the AMD dome, speak softly, and not start shit they cant handle.

  7. China is far less inexperience of war as compared to the Philippines. If UNCLOS done and favor of Philippines, Chinese will no more.
