Delta strikes and its caught on tape...

Jalopnik has a pretty nice write up on Delta conducting a snatch and grab (I think that's what they call it) of a suspected terrorist.

Its pretty fascinating stuff.

On this one I have absolutely no idea how its done.  Do they have backup? What type of weapons are used?  What are procedures if they are interfered with by local police? Etc...

This is definitely upper tier stuff and I usually don't go for those labels.

Read the article here.

  1. This is just a pub-crawl. They are swapping drivers with those still reasonably sober. No harm.

  2. Watched the video Jalopnik didn't watch it to well. You see when the first guy jumps out draws as the second is getting out the first shoots the driver. The rest of the team secures the area after the 3rd car pulls up. They get their target and then leave. The targets car was not driven off by US guys. It looks like it rolls across the street. After the family comes out you can see them run in the same angle as where the target car rolled.

  3. Seeing things like this and at the same time looking at all the kerfuffle the SEAL's have been churning, I can't help but agree with the whispers that Delta occupies a Tier by itself. Recent SEAL ops have been spectacular both in success and failure but Delta has been quietly plugging away in cold blooded efficiency.

I had a friend tell me the only reason insiders hold Delta up on a pedestal is their selection criteria. DEVGRU will take any SEAL who can pass the BUD's and gets noticed. Delta requires you to work your way up, often starting in the Rangers for 5 years, then Special Forces for another 5-8 years and THEN you have to pass Delta Qualification. So DEVGRU guys can be fresh grads for all anyone cares, Delta takes only 10+ year vets.

Seems the experience shows in Ops like this.
