Flash-point: Murrieta...

via The Daily Caller...
Federal agents will be arriving in Murrieta, Calif., the site of ongoing protests against the recent flood of illegal immigrants into the town, on Monday to quell protesters, Breitbart has learned.
Murrieta has been in the news since June 1 when protesters blocked a convoy of buses carrying illegal immigrants to a local border patrol station. (RELATED: Hispanics Split Over Obama’s Border Meltdown)
Protesters have not left yet, and federal agents are supposedly fed up with American citizens being concerned about their hometown.
John Henry, a Murrieta resident for over two decades, was told by local officers that the feds will be barricading streets.

“We’re being told that federal Marshals or ICE will be here in the next few days and that they are bringing riot gear,” Henry said. “They’re apparently going to be blocking off the street with concrete blockades so that no vehicles can get through. The River County Sheriff’s Department showed up last night and brought a huge watch tower that shoots up into the air 35 feet.”
I'm calling bullshit on Federal Agents being pissed off about this.

Its been awhile since I've had a chat with one but all the door kickers I've ever ran across wouldn't give a damn about the protests.  They might find it interesting, they might discuss tactics but being pissed?

Nope.

Now leadership of the various agencies is something else.  This is lining up as another incident in the making.  Militias have arrived and depending on their motivation this could get ugly.  Additionally, if federal officials (talking about leadership) are indeed pissed then this could lead to a tragedy.

It all boils down to one thing.

Who's showing up.

US Marshals?  FBI?  Doubt it.  ATF?  Secret Service Uniformed division?  Probably not.  Customs? Probably....  If its elements of Customs then this is going to be a clusterfuck from hell.  This will bear watching.  I expect some drama.  I expect over reliance on crowd control devices (pepper spray--bear sized and the noise devices) and for the American public to be further divided.

This will probably get ugly.

  1. Our country is rolling the dice every time these stand-off engagements happen.

For this not to turn into a flashpoint, the cooler heads are going to pretty much have to be on the Federal side. All it takes is some desk-jocky in Washington deciding that they can't lose face, and we get our 'Boston Massacre' moment. Pray for a Gorbachev-type to blink first. Because the alternative won't be pretty, and there's plenty of hotheads on the militia side that would welcome a civil war.

In a conflict between illegal immigrants (who SHOULD NOT be here) and American citizens (who SHOULD BE here) and have a First Amendment right to protest what is being done to their nation, the government has taken the side of the illegal immigrants.

Division and polarization would be the best possible outcome of what team FedGov is doing in this situation. If FedGov's position is that they can legitimately enforce/ignore laws at their leisure, then they should let the "little people" protest. If they mean to bring force against the People and nullify their First Amendment rights, then they admit they have no legitimacy. If they use force and injure or kill they commit a serious offense because this is not a "police action," this is a FEDERAL government agency defending its own lawlessness at a local level.

    Dangerous times...

    1. consider that the American Revolution was started over a tax over tea. many considered it a responsible move by the British government to spread the tax burden to everyone in the kingdom but the American colonist thought otherwise.

additionally only 3% of the colonist were actually part of the rebellion. think about that. 3% of the population sparked a war.

now fast forward to today. i would guess that the number of people outraged over the administrations policies probably moves toward about 10%. then take a look at how the US military and federal law enforcement agencies are oriented. i'm guessing but i imagine that one percent of the population is engaged in concerted criminal activities but they're unable to put a stop to it OR prevent acts from occurring.

      long story short.

many are waiting for something to kick off. worse. the federal government and military will be lucky to keep control of the major cities much less the country. things could go south real fast if cooler heads do not prevail.

it will be nasty, it will be in some cases savage and it will be outside the rules of warfare. i expect families to be targeted instead of military and law enforcement officials. i expect kids to get caught up in the fighting....thats why i hope it doesn't happen but we seem to be drifting that way.

    2. It's a progression Andre. Go read up on the Boston Massacre.

The revolution didn't start that day. But it was an event that shifted public opinion away from the Crown and towards those pushing for independence. Even though the incident itself was not clear-cut, and everyone involved tried to resolve the aftermath in as even-handed a way as possible.

  5. They do have a first amendment right to protest, but not to block any streets or driveways. Though I wouldn't want a bunch of future freeloaders being dropped in my city either.

I do have a thought about the pepper spray. I was lucky and got invited to work an inauguration a few years back. We were told not to bring pepper spray since in our great capital if you spray someone that is rioting or what not and someone is standing next to or with the rioter and can not be proved to have been apart of the violent protest and gets any amount of pepper spray on them then its a civil rights violation. Now in most of the rest of the country it is not, but you would think all Feds would have to abide by the nut jobs thinking on this.
