Russian Military Websites you should check out....

Thanks to Robert and Info-Infaterie for the links!

BPDM Typhoon-M (BPDM Typhoon-M)

I got a couple of jewels for you ... if you're interested in Russian armor that is.  The first is Vitaly V. Kuzmin's site.  Its a must see and there is enough information to clear up a bit of the confusion we have in the West with regard to their armor.  Exhibit number one is the vehicle above...the BPDM Typhoon-M.

The next is Sdelanounas.ru .

Check them both out.  You will not regret it.

  1. I beg to differ, sir.
Sdelanounas.ru – it is pure propaganda source, where all good news from Russia is located (not only about military issues). I cant say they spread lie – but their info about our military is sporadic.

I would like to recommend two another Russian language sources (mostly about armor):
The first - http://gurkhan.blogspot.ru/ - it is blog of a man who worked in UVZ sometime and have proper education – Aleksey Hlopotov. Now he runs his business but still very active as popularizer everything about armor issue (specially Russian).

    The second http://andrei-bt.livejournal.com/
He is anonymous rival (and it is mutual) of Hlopotov, advertiser and calls T-72 as a great mistake and in no other way.

    The third - http://twower.livejournal.com/
Blog of Denis Mokrushin, he was a soldier (and took part in Cechnya war too) and now he is a journalist and posts a lot of interesting and actual info free of official propaganda.

    1. well lets be honest about propaganda. where does it end and personal opinion begin? as critical as i am of the USMC i still think its the best thing going and if i had my way SOCOM would go away, the USAF would be reduced to transports, and the Army would pretty much remain as is.

does that mean my site is pushing propaganda or do i have an opinion? you did notice that i didn't list the Russian Marine site you gave me? some stuff should remain secret and held close!

    2. Sir, I find nothing bad in the propaganda phenomenon. Each nation must have this (but everything in reason, of course). But in the case above I mean only comfort of info’s presenting for people interesting in military issues. Sdelanounas – is multi-thematic source, not special in military.

@you did notice that i didn't list the Russian Marine site you gave me?@

      I get it, sir.

    3. I think almost every outlet gets tainted somewhat with nationalism and propaganda, especially American and Russian ones. Some are far more objective than their counterparts certainly.

Russians have an interesting perspective on things, military wise however. Im glad Sol made this post because it is good for other people to venture outside the american defense blogsosphere.

Google translate seems to be mostly functional, although sometimes it is not. My wife (who is from what was known as the Soviet Union) helps a lot :)

  3. By the way “ BPDM Typhoon-M” is a very interesting anti- saboteur Vehicle for our Strategic missile troops. Including not usual masine-gun station with outside location cartridge tape.
